There should not be any religious conversion. Just imagine how boring the world will be if everyone went to church, said Jesus is the only god.
Lets celebrate diversity and stop preaching that ours is the only way to reach God and everyone else goes to hell (charecteristics of christian and islam faith). The basic reason behind the intolerance and religion related violence we are currently seeing around the world.
We should stop giving money to churches who engage in coercieve conversion. This is the only way we can stop the spread of intolerance.
The religion's only purpose is to foster spiritual development. The ultimate spiritual goal is to not see any difference between me and you or any living creature. Or to say see god in everything! And love everyone equally. The whole purpose is lost by compartmentalising that we are christians or muslim or anything else.
The reason for intolerance and violence is not that people believe that Jesus is the only way... Jesus Himself said that He is the only way, yet He loved everyone and never persecuted people who didn't believe in Him. Loving others is something much deeper than simply tolerating their beliefs. It is wishing them good... the Apostles taught that everyone who believes in Jesus has eternal life (it's in the Bible!) yet I'm sure they loved people.
It's all in the Bible. If you don't like that particular aspect of Christianity, remember that believing these things doesn't lead to hatred or intolerance; sin does, not faith. In the end, what do you trust more, the Bible, or your own understanding? I'm not trying to attack your beliefs, if you don't want to change your mind, that's oki, all that matters is if you believe in God. If you don't want to go around preaching that Jesus is the only way to heaven, I don't think this makes you less of a Christian than others. I'm just saying that the Bible is pretty clear about this....there is "the narrow path"...and Jesus is God. Not 'one of the gods', but God Himself. It's perfectly possible to believe this and love and respect people of all faiths

I try to.
It's really sad when Christians persecute others, because we're supposed to be following the God of love. No other religion preaches a God of love.... So I understand your feelings about this, I feel the same way. But I also believe what the Bible says.
By the way, many Christians don't say that people of other religions will go to hell...many say that we just don't know, and it's up to God to decide. But we still believe in Jesus. Also, I think there's a distinction between just labelling yourself Christian and actually following Christ. I don't want the whole world to be Christian in the cultural, surface kinda way....but for all to love God and others. When people follow the same God, they don't all become the same; God loves diversity! Just look at nature! He made us all different and unique, and when we become His, our individuality shines out the clearer.
I hope I didn't say anything that would be a 'stumbling block' to you....I also love diversity, and I have lots of friends that aren't Christians...I'm just saying that it's possible to believe what the Bible tells us but love everyone at the same time.
God bless!
