I thought we could start a thread with artwork from various religious traditions. There is so much beauty in the world and oftentimes we only get the negative (especially on this board)

Ok, I'll start:

These are from Noor Deen Mi Guangjiang, a Chinese Muslim. He combines arabic and chinese calligraphy into a truly unique style I have not seen elsewhere.

I seek refuge in God from the accursed devil, Surah Al-Fatiha.

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His messenger.

To Allah belongs blessings, to Allah belongs bounties, to Allah belongs mercy, Thanks belongs to Allah.

I suppose this is the best thread to ask this in... why do some religions disallow the photography of faces? (ie, on Islamic sites)
Also, in Jewish artwork, why can there be no images of God?
Anyways, I look forward to seeing artwork from everywhere

The following are done by a good friend of mine, Moshe Dadon and are known as biblioart, in other words, the pictures are actually books of the bible written in such a way it forms an imagine.

This is the entire book of Joshua: (I have this one in my house )

And those are only some, he specialises in other pictures of Judaica as well, it may be hard to notice the text on the pictures but thats what they are made up from. Mind you its hebrew so I cant read it anyway

And, as much as it is against my religious beliefs, I have a weak spot for orthodox icons, specifically coptic

Archangel Michael. One thing I love about Coptic icons are their use of ancient egyptian symbols. Here Michael is carrying the scales used by Ma'at for the judgment of the soul

Baptism of Jesus, reflecting the Coptic tradition of baptism

Saint Mercurius, otherwise known as Abu Saifain, father of the swords. This is a traditional depiction of Abu Saifain, vanquishing the roman Emporer Julian the Apostate (and people say Islam is a violent religion )

Saint Onophrios - I love the use of arabic and coptic script

Theotokos and Jesus in a manuscript listing the Theotokia for the 7 days

Oh I realize that but why do Christians and Jews use it so differently? (should have made myself more clear) What about images of the flood? Of Moses?
And what about other religions who do not show pics of themselves?

Eudaimonist, is that Temple of Triumph anything to do with The Fountainhead?

Yes, it is most likely inspired by the concept of the Temple of the Human Spirit in that novel, although it doesn't resemble the description Ayn Rand gives there, aside from a statue as a focal point. However, the statue in the novel is of a woman.
