The most powerful Biblical support for relics is found in Kings where a dead fellow falls onto the bones of the Prophet Elisha and is raised from the dead. It was a passage from Scripture I never heard preached on when I was a Protestant!!!
2 Kings 13: 20-21
So Elisha died, and they buried him. Now bands of Moabites used to invade the land in the spring of the year. And as a man was being buried, behold, a marauding band was seen and the man was thrown into the grave of Elisha, and as soon as the man touched the bones of Elisha, he revived and stood on his feet.

Dear John- In 2000,Gerontissa Agathi of Meteora sent me a little of this sacred myrrh-has there been any flowing of the myrrh from his sacred relics since 1999?

Dear John,

unfortunately I have not yet been present when they open the Larnaka each year so I cannot tell you first hand, but I know plenty who have been blessed to be present so I can assure you that myrrh still flows from his relics. They don't pre-announce when they will be opening the Larnaka due to the crowds it would attract, and my friends have just happened to be lucky enough to be visiting the church on that day. They told me that not only is the entire church filled with the fragrance of the myrrh on that day (and its a big church!), but also the whole of the city block on which it stands!

Which monastery in Meteora does Gerontissa Agathi belong? I've been to Agios Stephanos and Agiou Rousanou, although I did not meet any nuns at Ag. Stephanos. We met a lovely nun originally from Melbourne, Australia at Ag. Rousanou.

John.
