Reliability of Jay Dyer

I would recommend that inquirers & students ( or both) of Orthodoxy look into writings of Fr Anthony Coniaris. He is soundly Orthodox & discerning & respectful of other Christians (& anyone of course).

I have never heard of Jay Dyer and I think some inquirers may not be aware of where to look from church history (outside of the Bible). They probably need to hear from a canonical, living ( or recent living) priest etc. In America this may be particularly important.

Frs. Lawrence Farley & Joseph Honeycutt come to mind. They have videos, books, blogs etc.

Thank you all for your replies. I just want to reiterate that when I say Jay Dyer is my main source of Orthodox Theology and Worldview it's not because I look to him exclusively and am looking for validation here. As I said it was through happenstance and I have begun looking into other sources, not least of which obviously being the Church Fathers. I simply wanted to know whether in general what I have learned from him is somewhat on point or not. I'm well aware of his ego issues, though from listening to him quite a bit I would say they are less severe than most people initially think they are. In a strictly informational sense his ego shouldn't be a factor, in fact it seems to work in his favor somewhat. He seems to get a kick out of being right which drives him to be factually sound. For his own sake, though, and beyond a purely informational sense, obviously it would be of infinite benefit for him to humble himself.

Whilst I agree truth doesn't need apologists per say, isn't it required scripturally speaking (1 Peter 3:15)... even if it is reiterating what the Church Fathers have already said?
Which is, as far as I can tell, all Jay Dyer really does anyway.

They don't seem too keen on Orthodoxy in general honestly. Their dislike of Palamism is mind blowing to me. I had no idea there were folks against it in modern times.

They used to do videos debunking Protestantism and to be honest some help me understand why OSAS and Sola Fide are wrong when I was just an inquirer.

They have gotten more aggressive on Orthodoxy and it seems like they delete or hide negative comments. It might be a good sign that more people have gotten interested in Orthodoxy.

Well, it should also be said that Jay Dyer himself was a Sedevacantist and for a short period became affiliated with the Dimond Brothers. He abandoned Sedevacantism for Orthodoxy; and as such, much of what he talks about is just a result of comparing his own experiences to his past experience.

Believe me, my previous Catholic experience has been absolutely crippling baggage to me in my journey to Orthodoxy

(to the point that it's probably the number one thing that still hinders me in just making the leap - trying to just rationalize why God would allow Roman Catholicism to flourish the way it did for hundreds and hundreds of years (for 910 years) and create some of the best universities, art, Saintly people, a largely preserved and beautiful liturgical tradition, and a unique and detailed system of theology: only to destroy all of at once; the bringing up of authoritarianism towards any questioning of such a destruction [if you don't like it, you are a Pharisee - a hypocrite - a rigid, mentally ill person - you have "disordered passions"]with snobbish elitism and a refusal to deal with any kind of logical argumentation; and then nothing ever resulting from it - people not leaving Catholicism to find Orthodoxy or some other group, nothing - just apostasy, confusion, and despairing of millions of souls),

and I can't imagine the amount of baggage that gets created if you go down the Sedevacantist rabbit hole - something I've pondered but never became formaly affiliated with, sensing there's something very wrong with most Sedevacantists.

That seems rather slanderous. Both the terms 'alt right' and 'conspiracy theorist' are weasel words that don't say anything about the subject (which is Dyer himself.)

But Jay Dyer merely continues on the same lines of inquiry as Fr. Seraphim Rose of Blessed Memory. Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future, The Orthodox Survival Course, Nihilism, and The Soul After Death - all are part of the same line of inquiry. Fr. Spyridon Bailey (who is on AFR), also follows the same lines of inquiry (see, for example, Orthodoxy and the Kingdom of Satan.) St. John Kronstadt did too, and you would call him also an alt-right conspiracy theorist? And Elder Sophrony of Essex? What about St. John Cassius who wrote on similar topics in his day?

What exactly are the nature of these so-called 'conspiracy theories' that inquiry and so many venerable elders should be ignored?

Are we to do as Fr. L. Farley seems to suggest and accept only their piety - and ignore the deep vastness of their teachings on the state of the world? What then is Orthodoxy if the teachings about this world "sentenced to burn" should be ignored?

You must be kidding me. Take a cursory glance at his output. And things like the "Orthodox Survival Course" are not well-regarded. "Jay Dyer is literally St John of Kronstadt" is not a line of inquiry I'm going to dignify.
