  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

PAKISTAN – Pregnant Christian stripped and beaten unconscious

Release partners are caring for a pregnant Christian from Lahore who was reportedly beaten unconscious for refusing to deny Christ.

The 26-year-old mother of four from Rana Town was attacked, apparently after resisting a Muslim woman's attempts to make her convert to Islam.

The Christian says the woman's brothers stripped her, paraded her in public, robbed and kicked her, then beat her unconscious.

Local police initially refused to register a case and only did so after Release partners intervened.

•Please pray that God will comfort this young mother and her family. Thank God that he 'heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds' (Psalm 147:3). Pray that those responsible for this attack would be brought to justice.

•Pray that God will protect Release partners as they take a stand against religious intolerance and support persecuted Christians.

•Please also pray for the nation of Pakistan as it comes to terms with the attack on the school in Peshawar this week, and especially for all those directly affected by the killings.
Pray for an end to religiously and politically motivated violence in Pakistan and for increased tolerance across communities.

NEWS UPDATES:

Iranian church leaders Behnam Irani, Matthias Haghnejad and Silas Rabbani have been acquitted by appeal court judges. The three men had each been sentenced to six years' imprisonment for 'action against national security' and attempting to 'overthrow the system' (Prayer Alert, October 22). Release sources say the international outcry over their sentences influenced the outcome of their appeals. However, Behnam remains in jail in Karaj, serving previous sentences totalling six years. Thank God for the release of Matthias and Silas; pray that Pastor Behnam will be freed soon too. (Sources: CSW, Middle East Concern)

Thank God also that a 14-year-old girl who was abducted in Punjab last month and forcibly converted to Islam (Prayer Alert, December 12) is now back with her family. Our partners say that, thanks to negotiations between local Christians and Muslims, the kidnapper returned the girl to her parents in the presence of police, apologising for his actions and relinquishing all claim to her as his wife. The girl is now being cared for by one of our partners, for fear of extremist attack. Ask God to protect her and her family. (Source: Release partners)

We are also pleased to announce that two Indonesian evangelists, known as Kashfi Rasyid and Jalaludin, were reportedly released from jail on Monday. They had served three-year sentences for 'evangelising Muslims' (Prayer Alert, August 5, 2013). Pray that they will be able to continue their ministry. (Source: Release contacts)
