  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

IRAN – New charges feared as pastor 'tortured'

Please pray for our brother, Pastor Saeed Abedini, as reports emerge that he is being tortured in jail – and could face further charges.

Christians in several countries including the UK are planning vigils tomorrow, the third anniversary of his imprisonment, to pray for his release.

A relative who was able to visit Pastor Saeed in Rajai Shahr Prison near Karaj yesterday reports that intelligence officers repeatedly used a taser gun on Saeed during an interrogation session on Tuesday. He is said to be in need of medical treatment. Recent reports say he continues to suffer abuse at the hands of other inmates too (Prayer Alert, June 16).

Interrogators told Saeed he could face new charges, alleging that he has connections with groups opposed to the Government – claims that Saeed denies. He is already serving an eight-year sentence for his involvement in Iran's house church movement. The US-Iranian pastor was detained in 2012 on a humanitarian visit to Iran where he was involved in building a government-approved orphanage.

  • Pray that the Government of Iran will show Pastor Saeed clemency and release him. Ask God to bless and sustain his wife Naghmeh and their two children in the US.
  • Pray for the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, who is due to address the UN General Assembly in New York next week. Pray that he will heed calls for greater religious freedom in his nation.
  • Pray for the release of all those who are imprisoned for their faith in Iran. Pray that their witness will touch the hearts of their guards and other inmates so they are treated with dignity.
