July 20, 2015PAKISTAN – Asia Bibi's final appeal against death sentence
Pakistani Christian Asia Bibi has one last opportunity to appeal against a death sentence for 'blasphemy' when her case comes before Pakistan's Supreme Court on Wednesday.
Please pray for Asia and her family, for her lawyer, and for the three judges who are scheduled to hear the case in Lahore.
Even if Asia is freed, she will remain at risk. Extremist clerics have placed a £3,000 bounty on her head – as a reward for anyone who kills her.
The Punjab farm labourer, who is now 50, has been in solitary confinement in jail for the past six years and was convicted of blasphemy in 2010. She was arrested in 2009 after an argument with work colleagues who accused her of insulting Islam.
Recent reports have suggested Asia is in poor health.

Please pray that Asia will be acquitted and she and her family will be relocated, so they can live in freedom and rebuild their lives together. Pray that, even this week, they will know the joy and peace that comes from trusting in God (Romans 15:13).
Sign petition calling for justice for Asia Bibi.
NEWS UPDATE:
Please continue to pray for South Sudanese pastors Yat Michael and Peter Yein Reith whose next hearing in Khartoum is scheduled for Thursday. The judge's verdict is expected on August 5. They face serious criminal charges, apparently due to their links with a persecuted church in the Sudanese capital (Prayer Alert, July 9). (Source: Christian Solidarity Worldwide)
