Im having problems with my relationship with God.

I know God exists and I know that Jesus died for my sins.

But im having difficulty with my relationship with God. About 3 months ago i was full of the spirit and so in awe of God and Christ. Now i just dont feel it anymore :(. I used to be able to drop to my knees and weep in the presence of God and now ... i just cant. I dont know what it is, but i hate it.

I really dont know what to do. Ive prayed, read my bible, fasted, but nothing seems to get back the relationship i had.

Anyone have any ideas as to what i can do? It's driving me crazy  .

God bless you all for taking the time to read this

Faith is not about feelings. Our relationship with Our LORD is not based upon feelings. I have never been able to "drop to my knees and weep in the presence of God" and I have not always felt Him close but we must remember that God will never desert us, He is faithful to us! My advise...keep praying and studying His word :)

What you're experiencing is very common and fortunately there aren't very many causes of of the problem so it should be easy, with the help of your minister and/or Christian friends,to figure out what to do about it.

One cause is the departing of the Holy Spirit temporarily in order to test our faith and loyality to God.That was quick, the Holy Spirit just informed me that's what is occuring to you.So what you've been engaging in is the right course of action.Keep seeking after God with your whole being and pray regularly for this - A NEW INFILLING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.That's what you're in need of.When the Holy Spirit leaves us for godly testing,we are NOT being punished oe even being warned.God is just making certain that you are worthy of citizenship in His kingdom.

The other common reason the Holy Spirit leaves us is because of sin. This may be a factor with you as well but the Holy Spirit is not informing me of any major sin problem you have.Nevertheless it is something to talk to your Christian girlfriends about to see if they can come up with any ideas for spiritual self-improvement.But the good news is,that this should turn out to be just a temporary problem.Just keep asking God to send the Holy Spirit back to you. But,and this is very important,do NOT demand, and above all DO NOT GET ANGRY WITH GOD.That's a good way to destroy your relationship with Him.

I believe that I am in a similar situation as you Sneebo and that God is testing my faith. I feel like God's not talking to me... I'm not angry with God, but I get frustrated. I know God loves me, but it doesn't feel like it lately. I know He's there, but I feel alone. The only thing I can say, is to keep focusing on God and praying. IT WILL PASS. Just not on "our" time.

Going through the same problem here ;)

Funnily enough I have shot right through reading the Bible during this period. But all the Spirit filled experiences and miracles seemed to have stopped. But I knew they would for a short while. I was told it was coming.

Dont worry too much. Its part of Gods plan. It doesnt mean you have done something wrong. God is just discipling you thats all! It will come back when you dont expect it. Remember it is up to God to decide to fill you of the Spirit or keep you from it.

Keep on going!!!

Don't worry about it. Everyone goes through spiritual drought every once in a while. You just need to stay in the word and pray. You do have one small problem. If you don't stay in the word and in prayer then satan will try to attack you at a weak point in your life. Hope you can get the fire back.

Another thing: a relationship with God is not static. "Hills and Valleys," so to speak, are common. Sometimes God will pull back a little - still be there, of course, but you might not "sense" it. This is testing - remain steadfast in your devotion, and He will know your virtue. In C. S. Lewis' "The Screwtape Letters," the demon Screwtape mentions something along the lines of "Indeed, His greatest appreciation of their devotion is not the frenzied praises from the mountaintops, but in the valleys - when they attempt to walk, like young children relieved of a Father's hand, and even their slight stumbles please Him."

He will be there to pick you up if you do stumble, but when you can walk in the valleys, and know that He's with you even if you don't exactly "feel" it (hey, a parallel to Pslam 23,) then He will be pleased.

Cheers, it means you are growing.
I agree it is a wonderful feeling to be so filled in His presence.
But it need to come a time when your relationship with God go beyond feeling.
It is as if instead of God coming to you, it's you who go to Him.
Continue to read the word, pray, fast and praise. Let the knowledge of God become life in you and change you. Till inside you, no more will you feel that God exist and loves you but you will know and know and know that God is real and love you so much.

God is like air...sometimes he's like a massive hurricane, rushing into you, knocking you over with his power...you know he's there because you can feel the rush of him in you and all around you...but sometimes he's only there subtly....sometimes you jsut breathe him in...and because you don't sufficate, you realize he's there...you are still alive because God is still in you...God is with you, Jesus' special gift to mankind is still in you...the Holy Spirit will never leave you, just because you can't FEEL it, doesn't mean he's not there, have hope, have faith...he's there, he loves you.

howzit...

I sooo can relate, I am kinda in a similar situation. My pastor told me that just because you don't "feel" as on fire or whatever... is not important. Love is not a feeling it is a committment, as long as you stay consecrated to Him you have nothing to worry about. Its understandable to go through a dryspell every so often...just don't let that discourage you. I struggle with consistancy in my walk but I do know that I still love God, even when i don't really have that "feeling".

Hope you get
