nor do we pray "through" the Saints. as i said before, i dont even know what that would mean. if i ask my mom to pray for me im not praying to God "through" her -- both my mom and i are praying directly to God.

Guess it's all in the concept of the method of contact..I guess the same method our prayers get to the throne room is the same way they are delivered to those gone on..I don't really think those gone on need to "pray" as we know it being they are in the realm of God's presence..

Holy Spirit! If anything you might say we're going "through" the Holy Spirit to ask the Saints to pray for us, and praying directly TO God, but even still, I think saying that would just confuse the matter because it can be variously interpreted.

EC, I mean no disrespect towards you when I say this, but when you stated in thread #1 that Mary was "sinless", I need not read anything else you write just for the simple fact that Jesus was the only one who ever walked the earth that was sinless.

She did live a life of not sinning meaning that she never sinned. She was born with ancestral sin; i.e. the ability to sin. But she did not because she lived a sinless life.

This does not mean sinless in the Immaculate Conception sense which states that Mary did not even have the ability to sin. According to this, she had a sinless nature.

Sinless life does not mean sinless nature.

God knew that she would live a life of not sinning. Why would Christ be born to one that sinned?

even if she had never committed any sins (and that's not like an official Orthodox belief by the way), she was still short of the glory of God because she still suffered from the curse of death that reigned over all men until Christ's resurrection and she was still born with the fallen nature that Adam and Eve were not created with. And the virtues she had were by the grace of God.

plus she is the Ark of the New Covenant overlaid with the pure gold of the Holy Spirit, just as the first Ark was regular wood overlaid with pure gold
