That is one school of thought, that we keep coming back till we get it right. I see it another way. We choose to incarnate in these (and other bodies) to experience being. We can be whatever we choose, and whenever we choose, for where we 'come from' is timeless, and so in a real sense while I'm here typing to you, another incarnation of my 'essence' may be fighting beside Napolean, and/or chasing a wild boar to bring it back to my tribe, and/or getting ready to lift off into space, and/or living in another galaxy as a totally different life form, and/or growing as a bacteria. The possibilities, like the universe(s) itself, are endless.

I've been piecing it together for a few years now. Started with the ideas in the "Conversations with God" books.

no apologies necesarySoulwings said:halfpastseven - Im a little confused, I guess, on the whole process of reincarnation. The way I learnt it, one lives, dies, and is "reborn" if one did not succeed in living a fulfilling and "good" life. I dont understand how you can be reborn as you, because there would have to be so many other things the same in your life in order for you to be the you that you were in your "previous life". Perhaps Im looking at this wrong, Im not sure.My apologies if I am.

its called karma, if you do something bad in one life it will come back to haunt you in the next.Soulwings said:I think the idea behind reincarnation is nice - we dont succeed the first time, we get another shot(s) at it until we do get it right. However, as a Christian, I dont think its correct. We do only have one try. And we have got to make this life count. If we had as many "lives" as we wanted, then why would someone even attempt to live a good life and do well, when they are only going to come back again? True, I have heard (Buddhist philosophy perhaps?) that if you dont do well in this life, then you come back as a being in a lower class, but Im not sure if this holds true for all beliefs in reincarnation.
