Gosh Emma, I'm sorry! Did you not want one or you just didn't get one?

My parents didn't approve of them. They weren't mean parents - we had loads of things like bicycles, fishing rods, swimming lessons, and things like that, but we weren't allowed toys which were part of crazes, or which weren;'t good for us.

It's a good way to be, even if the kids don't see the benefits.

At the time, I was desperate for a barbie, or a my little pony, or even a madonna record, but I wasn't allowed.

However, none of my contemporaries' parents took them swimming, cycling, running, walking up mountains, and on cultural trips to continental europe. Thinking back, I was the luckiest kid in school. At the time though, I wanted to be like one of the 'spoilt brad kids' as my mum called them :D

:eek:Wow!! The tickets have gone on sale for the soccer games that Australia is playing in in next years world cup. Apparently, in a move to try to outwit the scalpers, you have to put in your passprt number when you purchase your tickt and it will be printed on the ticket, and you must present your passport to gain entry into the game!

I can't say I was damaged in any way for having played with my Barbie doll.

I'm certain you weren't

I didn't mean to make any hidden accusations against people who had barbies and other toys, I was just sayig that my parents preferred us to do outdoor things, and cultural things, and wouldn't let us have fashionable plastic toys.

that's because jersey / sweatshirt material doens't keep you all that warm. You need some cashmere sweaters or a good fleece.
