• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Philipians 3:13-14

Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 5:17-19

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 18All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them.

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

============================
I hope some of these have helped. I regret my past too.

I have confessed what was on my part sin, and tried to grow through the pain that others have inflicted on me, by forgiving them and going foward. I have so much to deal with still but Jesus is faithful and will help us through all things.

God bless you, Tapero

I did a little research for you. I hope this helps.
Godly love,

But Jesus said to him, "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of God."
(Luke 9:62)

Mathew Henry Commentary:
No one can do any business in a proper manner, if he is attending to other things. Those who begin with the work of God, must resolve to go on, or they will make nothing of it. Looking back, leads to drawing back, and drawing back is to perdition. He only that endures to the end shall be saved.

Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth."
(Psalms 46:10)

My Comments:
Be still. Do not worry about the past. In Christ you are forgiven. You are born anew. March forward
Christian Soldier.

Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Don't fret, it leads only to evildoing.
(Psalms 37:7)

My Comments:
Cease all negative thinking. Rejoice for you are born anew in Christ. You are one of His sheep (forgiven and loved) and the Good
Shepherd looks after His sheep. Do not worry about the past. In the past is "self."
In Christ, you die to self and take on His image and His will.
God is now. Salvation is in the now. Stay in God and stay present (now) in God.
Do not worry about the future, for the future belongs to the Lord.
Let Him lead you now. Surrender past and stay present in Him.

But seek first God's Kingdom
(Matthew 6:33)

My Comments:
His kingdom is right now. He is right now. Keep your sights on Him in every breath, thought,
and action for He is your Teacher and Leader. Surrender your will and focus on His will. Seek His face.
When you stay in God, His spirit abounds within. You grow strong because the Lord grows strong in you.
Do not be distracted by things of this world (i.e. past experiences, past sins, past mistakes, past hurts).

....Arise, and take up thy bed and walk.
(Mark 2:9)

My Comments:
The world will always say, "You made your bed and you must lie on it; but One greater than the world
has said, "Take up thy bed and walk, thy sins are fogiven." Walk in His love, mercy, grace, and strength and go forward letting Him lead.

The Best for Last:
"I am the true vine, and my Father is the farmer.
Every branch in me that doesn't bear fruit, he takes away. Every branch that bears fruit, he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
You are already pruned clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can't bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.

(John 15:1-4)

Forgetting the things which are behind
(Phil. 3:13)

Thou shalt remember all the way which the
Lord thy God led thee.
(Deut. 8:2)

Remembering

Forgetting all my doubtings,

which dimmed faith's vision bright.
Forgetting all the storm-clouds,
the darkness, gloom and night.
Remembering God's bright sunshine,
And radiance of His face.
Remembering His long merciful patience,
I praise my God for Grace.

Forgetting all unkindness,
Which friends and foes have shown,
Forgetting and forgiving,
The wrongs that I have known.
Remembering God provided,
Unsought each faithful friend,
Remembering love's faithful devotion,
I'll praise Him to the end.

Forgetting my repinings,
When disappointments came.
Forgetting all the murmurings,
Which filled my soul with shame.
Remembering God was ever true,
To His word of Spirit and Sword.
Remembering He is faithful,
I praise my sovereign Lord.

Jesus paid for your past on the cross. Jesus paid the way for you to be set free from the past. Sorry i do not have my bible handy right now. Hope you are feeling better. Regret satan likes to keep us feeling bad for the past what helps me is to know Jesus died on the cross for my sins.

I have been struggling very much with regrets of my past. Does anyone have any good scripture referrences for this subject?
Hi graham, There's a verse that comes to mind, that is;
Hebrews 10:17.It says" Their sins and lawless acts, I will remember no more." Christ forgives completely, so
there is no need to confess our sins repeatedly. As believers we can be confident that the sins we confess
and renounce, are forgiven and forgotten. So i guess if Christ forgives and FORGETS, we should leave them in the past where they belong.
