Regnum Christi?

I was wondering if anybody here has any experience with Regnum Christi or the Legion of Christ? If so, what did you think about it?

Awesome! Really devout folks- Regnum Christi has lots of really great things for families, kids and young adults. K4J, Familia, Conquest, Youth for the Third Millineum..

I actually suscribe to the RC daily prayer. This was today's:

For all priests, religious and consecrated souls, that they may be faithful and dedicated.

Nothing Hidden




January 27, 2005
Thursday of the Third Week in Ordinary Time

Mark 4:21-25
Jesus said to his disciples, "Is a lamp brought in to be placed under a bushel basket or under a bed, and not to be placed on a lampstand? For there is nothing hidden except to be made visible; nothing is secret except to come to light. Anyone who has ears to hear ought to hear." He also told them, "Take care what you hear. The measure with which you measure will be measured out to you, and still more will be given to you. To the one who has, more will be given; from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away."

Introductory Prayer:Lord, you know all things. You know that I believe in you, hope in you and love you. You are everything to me. Now you want me to do my part. You want me to let my light shine. I want to help you Lord, but I am so weak. Help me!

Petition:Lord Jesus, free me from all human respect and false humility so that I can let my light shine. I want to be a beacon of hope for others.

1. The Lampstand What is your lampstand? What is vantage point from which you can be a light to others? Are you even a light, or are you rather an occasion of darkness? God has a plan for each one of us in our lives. He has a plan for how we will help others reach a closer union with him. By our baptism we are all called to be evangelizers. If he calls us, he will provide the way for us to fulfill the call. How will I do this? Who will listen to me? We need to reflect on what our responsibilities are before God. By our very example we should be evangelizing.

2. Anyone Who Has Ears… The message is given out to all, but not all have ears for it. Not everyone can accept what God wants of them. Should we be acutely aware of this, spending time judging and focusing on their failures? By no means! If somebody else chooses the bushel basket, do not spend all your time under the same bushel basket. Move forward and do good. Not all will accept what you say, but make the most of those who do. Defeat evil by doing good.

3. Measure for Measure God’s reward will far exceed the good that we do. He will not be outdone in generosity. He notices everything that we do – every thought, word and deed. He will bless us for the good, and his justice will take care of the bad. Purity of intention in what we do does not mean we forget about the promise of heaven. We need to think about heaven and long for it. If heaven is that union with the one you love, then serve your beloved with an eye to the love you will share. Be generous and know that he will repay everything you do – superabundantly!

Dialogue with Christ: Lord you are so close to me and yet seem so far away. It is hard to be good, and then even when I am, it is hard to bring that goodness to others. It is easier to hide myself away and let others do all the work. I know that you want me to be on the lampstand, but it costs me so much to be there. Help me focus on heaven as the reward you offer to those who love and serve you, letting me never look back at the old ways.

Resolution: I will speak to somebody about my faith today.

I have met a lot of great Regnum Christi families, however there seems to be some recent questions about secrecy which has led the archbishop of St. Paul to forbid them and Legionnares of Christ from meeting on archdiocesan property. Their refusal to make their activities public is somewhat bothersome.

I've read about some of the things going on in the Minneapolis diocese and the Legionnaires have been completely respectful of the Archbishop, they have followed his orders. It seems very questionable to me that the Archbishop will allow the shenanigans of Rainbow Sash and the bizarre things going on at St. Joan of Arc but will not allow Regnum Christi. I am not sure of his reasons, but his actions definitely appear to be suspect.

Why should they allow their activities public? Privacy is not a bad thing...

Privacy is of course not a bad thing. But the archbishop has the right to know what Catholic groups in his diocese, on his property, are doing. If they cannot tell the bishop what they are doing, it leads one to wonder why. Even if they are completely on the up and up, which I suspect they are, secrecy gives the impression of questionable activities.

St. Paul is actually a very good diocese. They do, after all, have 50 perpetual adoration chapels. Yes, 50. Is St. Paul perfect? No. Are there problems with liberalism? Yes. But all in all, St. Paul is far more orthodox than the majority of dioceses.

Just to clarify, I am not opposed to Regnum Christi. I was just voicing an opinion about one aspect of the organization and its interactions with a particular diocese.
