• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

sexual immorality is a Sin and needs to be repented from

examples: porn, touching yourself, fornication(premarital sex) adultry (even lust with your eyes)

We should remain pure outside of marriage. our bodies should be treated Holy for it is the temple of God.

I saw a commercial on a tv program. It talked about watching girls on hdtv and going to hell. If someone watched girls on hdtv and/or committed sexual immorality, does that mean going to hell?

Hey guitarintro,
I'm sure you already know that sin is sin and that all or any sin causes us to "fall short of the glory of God". That "the wages of sin is death" - but in Christ we are set free from the penalty of sin.
I really don't like to give basic theological answers to these sort of questions to people with OCD because more often than not they already know the answer to the question but the anxiety of their OCD makes them feel as if they have to have it answered again and again.
Was my answer to your question new information to you? Probably not. It probably seemed condescending. Did my answer solve the question in such a way that it doesn't bother you anymore or can you still come up with yet one more "what if"?
OCD will always find another "what if" to keep the obsession/compulsive cycle going. That's the nature of the disorder.
Praying for you,
Mitzi

One more thing. Temptation is not sin. It is not sin to see a commercial or to be tempted.

Hebrews 4:15 says that Jesus was tempted in everything just like we are, but He did not sin. So temptation is not sin.

When the thoughts first come in, they are not sin. If you are flipping through channels and see something, that is not sin.

It only becomes sin if you know it is wrong and entertain it. By entertain it I mean you purposefully dwell on those thoughts and enjoy them.

2 Tim. 2:22 says to flee youthful lusts. So when this stuff happens to me, I tell my thoughts to take a hike--and purposefully get busy with something else instead.

Just because you saw something doesn't mean you have sinned. It's what you do with it that counts. Seeing and fleeing isn't sin.

Then it is sin. Ask God to forgive you, He will. Ask Him to help you not enter into that sin again. Maybe you'll fall 1,000 more times. Each time ask Him to pick you up, forgive you and help you to overcome. Eventually the sin falls away. He is so awesome, He does help us when we ask Him for help.
