Roman Soldier said:There is one question which many ask: "Why did God take so long creating the universe? Why spend billions of years creating the universe if He could have done it quickly?"
If you understand the Hebrew, he did create the universe quickly. The Hebrew reads more like this in Genesis 1:1...
"In the beginning which was not a beginning (eternity past),
Elohiym/Godhead created out from nothing (bara)
the heavens (plural) and the planet earth."
The heavens and earth were already created before we read Genesis 1:2.
Matter of fact, the Hebrew does not say God created the Sun, moon, and stars on the 4th day. It says in the Hebrew that he made them to be bearers of light. These orbs were already existing at some time before they were made to bear light.
And, a very interesting point. We see three days of night and light prior to God delegating that job to the sun, etc. God was providing the light for the first three days. In the future there will be no more need for the sun. And, there will be no more night.
Revelation 22:1-5 niv
"1Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. 4They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. "
Besides the standard argument that God's time is different from the human conception of time, I have always felt that the appropriate refutation of this time argument is that God had other purposes with the universe other than creating humans. Those who make the argument above think that humans are the only important aspect of the universe.
God's revelation in what he creates is progressive. God did nor give Moses the grace teachings of Paul. God did not give the Jews under the Law the grace we now receive. Nor did God create man first in line of his creations.
Long before man was created in God's image there were other creations. Each one progressing forward as God educated the angels about himself and creation.... Man (in God's image) was created later on, at a time the angels had progressed in their understanding towards God and themselves, being able to receive from the creation of man the teachings and understanding God desired for the angels to be exposed to. Fallen angels are depicted near perfectly by fallen man. God had no such teaching tool prior to the creation of man and his fall.
Man was created only a little lower than angels. I believe the reason was because man was to be used as a teaching tool to show angels why God's judgement of the fallen angels is just and needful. But, that's for another topic of discussion.
The problem I have with my refuation is that it makes humans seem less important than the rest of God's creation.
Jesus said, "The last will be first." Man was created lower than angels, but will be promoted to a higher position than angels later on. At least the church will be. In our resurrection bodies we will be higher than angels, just as the Lord's body is now higher than angels. Man is not less important. Matter of fact, elect angels are aware that they are to be the servants to who we will be in the resurrection!
Hebrews 1:14 niv
"Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation? "
The angels ministered to the Lord while he was on earth. And, we will be the Bride of the Lord. His servants will be ours, in joy and love. Faithful church age believers will sit at his right hand. The "Queen" of the King! We have not been called to simply be a priesthood. But a Royal Priesthood! God's desire is to have us to serve along side of the Lord Christ! King of kings!
1 Peter 2:9 niv
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."
Angels are aware of this! And the fallen angels are green with envy! For they lusted for the Lord's position of authority when they fell! That is why they are out to steal and rob believers of truth! Truth is what transforms us by grace into the likeness of Christ. False doctrines are an attempt to rob us of God's glory. Those who refuse to walk in the Spirit and truth will fall victom. False doctrine does not make you free. It seduces. It appeals to how it makes one feel. Truth makes you free if you receive it. Truth may make you feel bad at first. May even make you angry. That is why anyone who is wanting to follow the Lord must take up his cross and deny self. But, if the truth is entrusted to the Lord in prayer for stabilization, it will be made to make us free.
Anyone understand what I'm saying? Help?
Grace and peace, GeneZ
