Do you know what SS is? If yes, please define it.Okay, you didn't want to present any holy scripture that teaches SS. I can live with that, I don't think any such holy scripture exists anyway. Perhaps a new topic will suit you better?
No, you got that wrong. I am not disproving SS, you're supposed to be showing why it is true. I say "I do not see SS in my bible, is it in yours and if so then where?" and so far you've been very shy about showing me where it is.Hello? You're trying to disprove SS. So far, all you've done is quote Scripture and your opinion.
You posted a definition from "wiki" is it a good definition, can I use it as representing what you actually believe and teach about SS?Do you know what SS is? If yes, please define it.
Go for it.You posted a definition from "wiki" is it a good definition, can I use it as representing what you actually believe and teach about SS?
Is that definition what you believe? You haven't affirmed that it is. Are you holding back because you want to be free to disclaim it later if it proves to be erroneous?Go for it.
Here's what I believe. Is that definition what you believe? You haven't affirmed that it is. Are you holding back because you want to be free to disclaim it later if it proves to be erroneous?
Well, I believe it is a doctrine held by some christians too. Are you one of the christians who happens to believe it as it is defined in that wiki quote? Here's what I believe.
Sola scriptura (Latin ablative, "by Scripture alone") is the Christian doctrine that the Bible is the supreme authority in all matters of doctrine and practice.

Where exactly does holy scripture teach that "the Bible is the supreme authority in all matters of doctrine and practice"?Here's what I believe.

You don't have anything do you.
Are you ready and willing to renounce Catholicism?Where exactly does holy scripture teach that "the Bible is the supreme authority in all matters of doctrine and practice"?
What an eccentric question. Since you didn't respond with biblical passages I am wondering if you have any to give? Are you ready and willing to renounce Catholicism?
We're making sure of what we believe. If SS is shown to you, are you willing to renounce Tradition? What an eccentric question. Since you didn't respond with biblical passages I am wondering if you have any to give?
It depends on exactly what is "shown". The question of religious affiliation is wider than SS. And I do not think you ought to try to set traps in a discussion. Just say what you believe and why and let the "chips fall where they may". I am not asking you to abandon your denomination or meeting if you fail. We're making sure of what we believe. You said, "Nice quote from wiki, is it your definition of SS or will you back away from it if it is analysed against the holy scriptures and church teaching?"It depends on exactly what is "shown". You didn't answer my question when I asked it did you? Now you want me to play along with you?You said, "Nice quote from wiki, is it your definition of SS or will you back away from it if it is analysed against the holy scriptures and church teaching?"
I'm asking you the same question. Are you willing to back away from Tradition?
I answered your questions. I already know you cannot renounce your religion's Traditions. You didn't answer my question when I asked it did you? Now you want me to play along with you?
If you don't want a serious discussion without strings attached then say so. I asked you about a definition that you cut & pasted but did not affirm to be your own belief. You are asking me to throw away my faith if your verses prove a doctrine that you've been unwilling to affirm as your own. I did not ask you to abandon SS is you fail, I asked if you'd abandon the wiki quote if it proved indefensible and I asked because I want to know where you stand but I don't want to bargain with you about what religion you will follow if you fail. One's faith is far too important for such double dare style games.
When will you be posting the holy scripture passages to support SS?I answered your questions. I already know you cannot renounce your religion's Traditions.
See post #1875. Can you agree? If not, why not? When will you be posting the holy scripture passages to support SS?
