I was wondering if there are any standard Reformed Systematic Theology text books that anyone would recommend. Something in a book format (no online sources please). I don't know, there's just something about paper books that I enjoy more than ebooks.

Thanks.
Depends on whether you want a Presbyterian or Baptist perspective. Gill's Body of Divinity is outstanding from a Baptist perspective. Abstract of Systematic Theology by J. P. Boyce is also very good. Biblical Theology by Vos is good as well. If you can find them the works of B.B. Warfield are very good from a Presbyterian perspective.
Basic Bible Doctrine by my pastor Don Fortner is very good for those who simply want to know what the Scriptures teach but are not really wanting in depth theological study.
J. L Dagg is also good.

To add to your list of books I pass this on from a very reliable reformed source.

All have problems since all are written by men but:

rather than "systematic theology" - Geerhardoss Vos' Biblical Theolgy ( very heavy reading but excellent ).

Systematic Theology - Calvin's Institutes,

Charles Hodge 's Systematic Theology,

I believe R.C. Spoul has a systematic theology out also, but not familar with it.

Good reading.

I'm looking for both Presbyterian and Baptist, actually. I will look through the books everyone mentioned and pick a few out.

Thanks to everyone.

Most of the ones I come across spend half of their time slagging off Evolution, and that is when I stop reading. I prefer my theologians to be in touch with the real world.

Louis Berkhof is one of them; Robert Reymond is another - not to mention Wayne Grudem.

I don't trust science with philosophical speculation.

Though I'm cool with the evolution bashing, as long as it comes from God's Word.

Lately, I've been sampling The Christian Life: A Doctrinal Introduction by Sinclair Ferguson. Might not be classified as a systematic theology, but it looks helpful. I'm thinking of using it (along with other books) as part of a small group at church.

Except that it isn't speculation.

The Bible may be infallible, but our understanding of it is not.

Let me clarify.

Origin of the species & genus via evolution is speculation.

Evolution itself is a useful scientific model.

But my point is that I can't stand when theologians try to be scientists. They should only use the Bible to detemine if something is heresy or not. I'll admit there are certain things in the Bible that I'm uncertain of; but evolution is one of those things I'm almost certain was not the means by which God created man. I used to believe in it (Theistic Evolution). Based upon my understanding of the cross and Soteriology, I choose not to trust in Evolution as the means of God's creation of the genus.

I feel that the ultimate logical corollary of the mechanism of evolution (natural selection) is that the cross didn't accomplish our salvation.

Though, I do believe in evolution itself. Medicine might not be useful without it!

Anyway, I won't make this a debate thread. Thank you for the text suggestions! :)

Yeah I wonder why God commanded Noah to load the Ark with two of each animal...would seem God needs to get in touch too, or maybe it was punishment for Noah and his family, you know, to have to smell the collective piles of animal feces for months on end...or maybe God didn't want to wait for eons of evolution to re-evolve zillions of species...nah TOE is a lie, and sad so many within Church these days do more than entertain it. I prefer my theologians to be in touch with Scripture, to hold true to the Reformation principal of Sola Scripture and exalt the authority of Christ over all areas of life, including the so-called "natural" Sciences.

How did Noah manage to build a ship the size of the QE2, single handedly, without saw mills, without heavy lifting equipment and without a shipyard. For that matter, when did he take a quick trip to Australia to collect a couple of Kangaroos, or to the North Pole for the polar bears?

History starts with Abraham, not before.
