Hi Bill,

I do not wish to hijack this threaad or go of topic, but what exactly is a "Reformed Catholic"?
Good day, Bulldog

Hope you are well, I am not quite sure how to explain this as it is new to me and the debate although not new to some new to me. I will track down some links and open a thread in the reformed board if you would like or PM them to you. I am sure you will understand them better then I am able at this present time.

Peace to u,

Bill

Most reformed are Covent.
Some Baptists are Dispen or new dispen.
Reformed baptists are both Covent or dispen.
Baptist are Baptist with reguard to infant Baptism. Weather they are dispen or Coventant.
Reformed baptize infants as a sign of a new covent, not the same as RCC.
Then there is allways the reformed Catholics, not to be confused with the RC's which are not the same as the old Catholics in that they are new  Catholics

Hope that helps.

Bill
Thanks a million Bill!

Good day, Bronx

I was just wondering if those early teachings where being taught by the seminary which you attend with in the RC faith. They are a good read IMHO.
It's just that the Augustine I was taught could in no way have supported Reformed theological positions...this is a wonderful eye-opener for me.

Socratic  is that a good thing? :p
Answering a question with a question... What do you think?:D

Warmest regards,
Henry

I've never read Calvin but I have read Romans, I've never read Augustine but I have read the Gospel of John...the Bible speaks to me about Grace and what has been called 'Calvinism.'

Have you read Calvin or Augustine and does it matter? I say no.

I get your point but please consider that scripture itself says

"And his gifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, 12to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ; 14so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the cunning of men, by their craftiness in deceitful wiles. 15Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every joint with which it is supplied, when each part is working properly, makes bodily growth and upbuilds itself in love.Ephesians 4:11-

So I would answer your question, YES!

Your point isn't wasted, I wrote that post after reading how we have to be taught calvins verison of Grace...which we know isn't true. Being taught and instructed is Biblical, no doubt.

If by Baptist you mean "believers only" baptism, then I guess I am one...and I go to a non-denominational church that came out of a Baptist church...so again, I guess I am baptist now. Although this church is not a Reformed/Calvinism church, sigh......

Used to be pre-mill, but now I'm leaning to the other end of the spectrum.....

I haven't read anything by Calvin or any of the other church leaders....I came to the Calvinist camp by reading the bible on my own, without someone telling me what it said, and it says (to me, anyway) that God chose me from the foundation of the world, that I cannot do anything to save myself, that it's all the pure Grace of God, and that God is in total control. When I "saw" that, I had to change my thinking.....

hi to all my Reformed brothers and sisters!! ... Reformed Baptist here as well..... as far as eschatalogy... I know about what I do not believe more solidly then what I do believe... I am defintely not a classic dispensationalist, or even a "progressive" one, though I went to a Univ. that taught Dispensationalism, they considered themselves to be four point Calvinists...

Bronx... as far as Augustine goes, it is a fairly well known fact that in Calvin's Institutes, he quotes no one more frequently than Augustine... the Refomed adhere to his doctrines regarding total depravity (non posses non pecarre, that natural man "cannot not sin") and predestination, but deny his doctrines of baptism and the church.... generally speaking....
