I came across this reference to Judas in the Psalms while praying in front of the tomb at 5 am on Holy Saturday morning:

Pss.41
[1] Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
[2] The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.
[3] The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.
[4] I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.
[5] Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish?
[6] And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.
[7] All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.
[8] An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.
[9] Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
[10] But thou, O LORD, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.
[11] By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.
[12] And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.
[13] Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.

The translation which I read said "has betrayed me" which made it even more so seem to be a reference to Judas.

Michael,
Thanks for this. The Psalms continue to amaze and instruct me in my journey. The way that they have opened up to me in Orthodoxy is truly wonderful. I gave up my 5am slot at the tomb this year in favor of a couple more "normal" slots though. :)

There is tons of prophecy in the Psalms. It is amazing how many expressions from the Psalms crop up in the Gospels.

Yes, I realize this. This one just seemed to JUMP out at me. There are many, much more subtle gospel prophecies in the Old Testament if we could just keep our eyes open for them.

The verses that flank this are pretty good too...

Yup. Not only is Psalms a great book for a person's Christian spiritual journey, it has much prophesy. (including prophecy of the Messiah, which where fullfilled in the NT)

I was reading the Psalter last week (I recently got "The Psalter According to the Seventy") and found an awesome referrence to the Theotokos in Psalm 44:

"All the glory of the daughter of the King is within, with gold-fringed garments is she arrayed, adorned in varied colours.
The virgins that follow after her shall be brought unto the King, those near her shall be brought unto Thee.
They shall be brought with gladness and rejoicing, they shall be brought into the temple of the King.
In the stead of thy fathers, sons are born to thee; thou shalt make them princes over all the earth.
I shall commemorate thy name in every generation and generation.
Therefore shall all peoples give praise unto thee for ever, and unto ages of ages.

What bibledo you use, I can't find the verses anywhere?

MTB,
Yea, this is an awesome prophecy regarding The Most Holy Theotokos and ever-Virgin Mary! I also like to think of the glorious Bride of Christ, His One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church when meditating on this passage!
His unworthy servant,
Eusebios.
