If you could talk to any person in history:

(1) who would it be?Annie Oakley

(2) why did you choose this person? I identify with her for some reason...her dad died when she was little..so did my dad...she was hired out to an abusive farm family that abused her...I also experience abuse in my childhood--She kind of looks like me...I've always felt she had Native blood in her...by the way..a rival of hers..Lillian Smith was of Native American background, too....of course in the Wild West show, it wasn't talked about..If you look at my avatar, it's that of Annie Oakley...she was adopted by Sitting Bull..it is said that of all the gifts given her by famous people, kings, queens, etc, she mostly cherished the gifts given her by Sitting Bull..

(3) what would you say to this person? I often wonder if she experienced rejection from her mom...or feel rejected because she was the only one in her family put in the infirmary..while all her other siblings were put in different homes...I noticed that her mom suffered a loss of a baby--a sibling right before she had Annie...so I wonder if that affected her mom. in that she wasn't able to bond with her mom, because of what her mom went thru with previous baby..

I feel like I didn't bond to my mom for some reason, too, ...actually I experienced abuse from my mom..I would ask Annie if her mom ever abused her...

Interesting. Annie Oakley would be an interesting person to talk to. I thought of Sitting Bull, Geronimo, Crazy Horse, Red Cloud or even Chief Old Tassel.

The only question for me is, should I watch what Bush had to say on tribal sovereignty or would it just upset me?! Did you upset you cherokeehippie?
Actually, it would just see how much of a dummy he is...a slip of words...He acts really confused and dumb.

A new question: Are you related to someone famous?
I'm suppose to be related to Chief Bowles..Duwali, Cherokee chief who led a band of Cherokee to Texas in the early 1800's, ...I was told this by my grandmother...when I was doing my family tree...I couldn't find him and assumed that he might have just been in an area where my ancestors lived, unrelated, but in family stories...but I came across the name, Boldhunter...in my family tree....then I found out that Boldhunter was another name of his!! Then, I was blown away!! I think maybe he was like an ancestor's brother...

and..my grandmother told me that we were related to Dragging Canoe, too!! Well...I was at a gathering up in Missouri, a few years ago, and an elder, who was an artist with prints of famous cherokees...he told me that Dragging Canoe's sister was chief Bowles mother!! That blew me away!!

I will need to think about whether I want to watch it or not.
Believe me...there was another youtube clip of Bush Sr that I had thought about putting here, but decided not to because I knew it would upset and get everyone angry...this one isn't as bad, it doesn't make me mad, just blows me away at the word Bush junior says--a slip of words==

I know my husband is related to Belle Star through his mothers' side. As far as my family goes, I have no idea. Since I was adopted in Oklahoma, my records are sealed and I have not pursued getting them opened yet. I tried a few years back but I kept hitting brick walls. There is just so much bureaucratic red tape. This is one of the main reasons why I am an Adoptee rights advocate.

I think genealogy is so fascinating. I wish I knew more about my own family. I would like to share that with my children. All I know about my birth mother and father is what my adopted parents told me. They were told by the case worker who handled my adoption. I know my birth mother was full blood Cherokee, and her family is on the Oklahoma Indian Roll and Dawes Roll (or at least that is what the case worker said). I know she had an ordinary name, not an Indian name. And I know she is passed now. My birth father was Choctaw and Scottish (that is all they knew about him). I was given up for adoption when I was four. The reasons behind that are complicated, and out of respect for my mother, I will not go into details.

as far as i know no
I will need to think about whether I want to watch it or not.
Basically he just says Solvern a lot and makes little to no sense, I don't think it will offend, since I can't see a point that he is making other than solvern entities relating as solvern entities and the solvernty means they are solvern. A lot of defining the word by using the word in the definition.
and please excuse my poor spelling

It sounds like he's stumbling over the word entities at the end and says enemies, instead...that's the part that blew me away...Richard Twiss showed this clip at a Native christian gathering I was at last year..."the relationship between us gov. and tribes is sovereign enemies" that's what it sounds like to me...

Hi Red Fox,
My mother's people are related to Jesse and Frank James! Should I admit that?! :)

My husband is distant cousin to Dwight Eisenhower.

What part of Oklahoma are you from? My dad's people were from Sapulpa. I probably still have distant cousins there.

Hope you have had a great day!

All blessings,
Denise M
