Just read an article on yahoo news about Ron McLarty. He couldn't get his novels published so he ended up narrating them on tapes for a small firm called Recorded Books. This company sells audio books to libraries via the internet.

Stephen King (who does get his books published) seems to be browsing the website or its catalogue. When they met and Stephen King learnt that Ron McLarty was the guy whose name appears in the catalogue. He then sent a copy of one of his scripts to King who in turn wrote an article about it. The result: McLarty secured a 2 million dollar advance (gasp) for two books from Penguin.

Is this an exception or has anybody here had a similar experience? Or is the story a hoax?
