Did anyone watch the Barr "hearing" in Congress a few days ago?

I put "hearing" in quotation marks because the last thing the Democrats wanted was to actually hear what Barr had to say. It was nothing more than political stunts, gross accusations, false allegations and a total berating of AG Barr, giving him no chance to defend himself or go into detail on anything. At one point, Barr said that this was supposed to be a hearing, that they wanted to hear from him. But, they didn't.

What an absolute disgrace.

Any of you hard leftists want to try to justify what went on in that "hearing", I'd love to hear it.

I didn’t watch it but your description (which jives with several others I’ve heard from conservatives) sounds like every other high profile hearing I’ve witnessed over the last 10+ years. Both sides are guilty of it, and it frustrates me to no end, but it’s pretty laughable that you all are only waking up now to the fact that at least half of the pols up there at any given time are only interested in grandstanding. Where were you guys last month when Louie Gohmert started tapping incessantly when a witness was criticizing Barr?

Gohmert tries to drown out critic of Trump’s attorney general with incessant tapping at House hearing

Where were your complaints when Republicans stormed a closed door deposition in a SCIF?

Being combative and interrupting witnesses is sort of Jim Jordan’s MO.

But now, all of a sudden, woe is you guys. Poor Bill Barr.

Both sides were just trying to score points.

Republicans spent 4 minutes sucking up to Barr, giving him one minute to agree that he is wonderful and thank them.

Democrats had questions. Barr always tried to interrupt before the question was completed--in order to waste time and not answer it. They reclaimed their time to finish the question, and however much time is left Barr spends changing the subject or baldfacedly lying.

Both sides know he is the "accomplice general," but the Republicans, many of whom are also Trump accomplices, are in on his game.

"Reclaiming My Time"
It took me a few times before I understood the meaning of "Reclaiming my time". It's a short phrase for; "Shut-up, the clock's running. I don't care what your answer is. I'm just hoping my outlandish sound-bite will make the evening news."

Barr got in a few comments, good for him. Why do we elect people who do not serve our interests?

I've been asking myself that question ever since Trump got elected and ushered in his group of swamp creatures, accomplices, lobbyists, and opportunists.

I'm curious. Would it have been way of line and wrong if Barr eventually stood up and said enough of this! And tell them he came there to answer questions and apparently they weren't interested in ever allowing him to explain himself. So if he got up and left the room what would have been the ramifications? Could they say he was in contempt of Congress? So what? Obviously they were in contempt of him anyway.

Reminds me of a tv show

Between their histrionics, not allowing him to be heard and the "Yes or No" questions that couldn't be answered with a yes or no. Sounded alot like the impeachment farce.

Yes or no - have you stopped beating your wife -

I have never laid a hand on my wife.

I didn't ask you that, yes or no, have you stopped beating your wife.

Congressional hearings, regardless of issue seem pretty useless. Although I “enjoyed” the Watergate hearings.

ah, how I long for the pre CNN days.
