As believers, we often face challenging situations that cause frustration and worry. We bring our concerns to Jesus Christ. Sometimes at night, we can't sleep, we toss and turn, praying through restless hours. When morning comes, we feel tired and unrested. Many believers, myself included, have experienced this throughout their lives.

But, in the past four years, I have had a completely different experience. Often at night, I wake up praying or dream about praying and then fall asleep. These nights are not restless or worrying but focused on prayer and worship. When I wake up, I feel fully rested despite praying almost all night.

Scripture says that the Holy Spirit prays for believers.

Romans 8:26 “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. “

I have heard that others have similar experiences; they wake up engaged in praise and worship, with some singing hymns or praying for specific individuals.

Since December 2023, I have been waking up or dreaming of reciting Psalm 121, specifically the first three verses. Initially, this happened once or twice a month, then weekly, and now almost 3-4 times a night.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;

On occasion, I recite other verses subconsciously during sleep or dreams; however, the three verses from Psalms occur more frequently and have persisted for the past 28 months.

I am wondering if others have had similar experiences and what messages I should take from these prayers.

Hello @FAITH-IN-HIM, I am not an interpreter of dreams, but it sounds like the Lord may be preparing you for service of some kind (perhaps something new), and/or "dressing" you for battle .. e.g. Ephesians 6:10-17 (see esp. v11).

I have similar experiences to yours above when I am spending a LOT of extra time studying the Scriptures, and particularly so when I am memorizing verses and passages each day.

If you are able to, please let us know where this goes :)

Blessings to you in Christ!!

Thanks for your post. You are correct that frequent memorization and usage of Bible verses can lead to reciting them in our sleep. I frequently use two verses when I worship or often recite them before falling asleep. I also find myself reciting them while I sleep.

Psalm 118: 1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. “ and

Revelation 7: 11 Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever.”

Since December 2023, I started reciting Psalm 121 in my dreams. To avoid influencing my dreams through daily habits, I stopped reading or reciting these versee while awake. Despite this, the first three verses of Psalm 121 continue to appear in my sleep or dreams.

As believers, we often face challenging situations that cause frustration and worry
For some reason, this comes to mind

Act 2:17
“‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares,
that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh,
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams;

I had a heart attack on 9/23. Before that, I was in a fit of despair, anger, and it all started because of the Ukraine war and America's divisiveness in politics. I started to focus and worry about my kids in this world I brought them into, to a point of psychosis, or some would say demon possessed.

I didn't have dreams because I rarely slept and was constantly talking to myself like some nut job. All the while, the Lord was putting uplifting scriptures in my mind, but I rejected them because I wanted to wallow in hopelessness, and then the heart attack.

Long story short, the Lord is with us. I think David might be right. I bet it feels good waking up to that.

My bad, 9/2023. I'm good, I believe I was healed by the Lord. Before coming home from the hospital, they told me to start walking to strengthen my heart, and I walked a half block and had extreme shortness of breath. It scared me, and when I got home, I got on my knees and begged and cried to the Lord, commanding myself to be healed. Giving God every excuse I could think of for wanting to live. The next day, I walked a mile. 4 days later, I told my cardiologist that I had walked 1.5 miles, and the look on his face was a Kodak moment. he asked, "You didn't have shortness of breath?" This is when I realized something out of the natural happened. My kids don't believe me, and to this day, I question sometimes whether God healed me. Oh ye of little faith, lol

Faith and your experience are always refreshing to hear because God does work in our lives.
