Hey.

Well i could almost be classed as the worst cook in the world. Nothing i do ever turns out anything like its ment to. actually it all tends to turn to charcol or be set alight.

Anyway my problem is i have to cook dinner and i have to do something with mince. And all i can really do with mince is cook it in a frying pan and add it to pasta so i was woundering if anyone had any fairly easy meals that i can make that have mince in them? if you do i would really appreciate the help.

Thanks heaps
-Angelo

Mince Patties (rissoles)

500grams of Mince (makes about 9 or 10 rissoles depending on size)
1 onion
1 egg
Tomato Sauce
Pepper
Mini Capsicum (optional)\
1 small chilli or sprinkle of Chilli powder (optional)

1. Put mince in large mixing bowl
2. finely chop onion and add to bowl
3. generous dollop of tomato sauce to bowl (couple of tablespoons or so..it is up to you)
4. add a generous amount of black pepper (or what ever pepper you have)
5. add one egg (without the shell ;) )

6. wash you hands and then mix it all up well by hand until it is nice and mushy and all mixed together.

7. put a cup of flour (normal flour) in a desert bowl
8. get a dinner plate and sprinkle a fine layer of flour on it also.
9. with you hands scoop out about a small palm full of mixture roll in flour in the desert bowl and then mould it into roughly the shape of a ball. (you cover them in flour to make them easier to mould and not stick to your hands) the sixe is up to you, depending how big or how many rissoles you want to make.
10. After you have the rissole nice and moulded and packed together place gently on the floured dinner plate (it is floured to prevent it sticking to the dinner plate).
11. keep making them till you use all the mixture up.
12. You now should have a plate full of flour covered rissoles.

13. Heat the frypan up on medium to high (don't want to burn them or cook too fast.
14. Add a generous amount of olive oil or whatever cooking oil you use and when hot add the rissoles.
15. Lightly press down on the rissoles after you put them in the frying pan so they are made a little be flat and take the shape of a very thick hamburger pattie. (don't squash them too much, just enought to change them from ball shape to thick burger shape)
16. Keep an eye on then and try not to let them stick to the pan or they may fall apart on you.
17. Cook and turn as required.

18. Gravy.
1. 1 desert spoon of gravox
2. add water for consistency
3. pour gravy mixture into frypan after you have removed the rissoles.
4. stir continuously, add extra water as required for consistency.
5. this will add the flavour of the rissoles to the gravy and also pieces of
rissole which may have stuck to the pan (more extra flavour).

19. Good luck and bon apetite

Col :) <><

Optional.
4a. add a finely chopped mini capsicum and or a small finely chopped chilli or chilli powder( This is just for added flavour)

I'm still confused as to what mince is, even after the recipe that was given *shrugs* must be an Aussie thing.

Let me know if you can relate it to something similar in the U.S. I'm just curious, thats all.
Well if I was to make some Chilli , or Sloppy Joes I would use mince.
It is just minced meat, does that help. You might call it ground beef

Meat Loaf

1 lb of Mince (or ground beef :))
2 cloves garlic
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1 tablespoon Worchestire sauce
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 cup bread crumbs (i like to use the bagged Herb stuffing bread and crush that into crumbs
1 cup beef broth, divided

combine beef, garlic, salt, pepper, worchestire sauce, bread crumbs and 1/4 cup of the beef broth. Mix well with hands.
Form mixture to loaf shape in a 9x13 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
Remove from oven. Remove drippings from pan. Set loaf aside covered with foil for 10 minutes. To make gravey: Pour drippings into small sauce pan. Heat, add 1 tablespoon flour. Stir in remaining beef broth. Cook on low heat until thickened, stirring.
Serve Meat loaf with Mashed potatoes and gravey mmmmmmm

LOL Susan, you have to rent the movie "Never Cry Wolf"
There is a scene where the biologist, who is trying to prove that the wolves are not a threat to the elk herds, does an experiment to see if a large carnivore (himself) can be sustained by mice. It is a great movie.
