  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

well, this was my first time in receiving the ashes and i have to say, last night's service was incredibly humbling!! the songs sung got me close to tears and when father steve gave his homily he stressed how Jesus has the continuous call for us to "come back". he then talked about "coming home" and it may be my imagination but it felt like he was looking right at me ^_^ my oldest son decided he wanted to go up and get blessed this time so we both did that and then when we went to get the ashes...i almost cried. i can't imagine what it'll be like to get to partake in the Eucharist for the first time!!
when we got home my little one (3) looked at my head and said "i want i want!" so i took some of my ashes and traced the cross on his forehead too :)
my oldest gave me such a huge blessing last night too in saying that he wants to go see "The Passion of the Christ" with me. and i was so proud of him last night!! he's catching on to the majority of the responses now!!!

yeah, I must say it was the coolest thing ever! I thought, this be somewhat like chrisimation feels like (Does the Latin rite do chrisimation?). The homily was so good...about using this time to repent and do all the things we should be doing in the first place :)...which is exactly what I'm trying to do this Lent! There was also quite a bit of catechisis on the meaning of some things, which is good because there were so many people there...Afterwards a priest answered some of my questions about how they did things concerning the eucharist (after some fears being struck into me at a discussion at Orthodox church I went to earlier that day). Yesterday was just so fascinating for me. I pray Lent will help me "behave" :)
