Colossians 3:
22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice,
as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God.
23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,
Daily devotions include the way we do for others, as if serving the Lord.
A conviction of heart is required to serve others with a sincere heart.
I have read many attempts at explaining “the fear of the Lord”.
Doing my job as if I am working for the Lord and not a paycheck is a rarity.
24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the
inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
25 But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and
there is no partiality.
The reward of the inheritance is received by measure, as is the recompense for
wrongdoing.
2 John 1:8 Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for,
but that we may receive a full reward.
Hebrews 2:
1 Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard,
lest we drift away.
2 For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression
and disobedience received a just retribution,
3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began
to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard.
When The Lord instructs us to “take the low seat”, He is speaking of
“the reward of our inheritance”. Luke 14:7-11.
11 “For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles
himself will be exalted.”
