Rebuilding the Temple [open]

God is going to have the temple rebuilt and will work through people to accomplish it.

ive always taken this to mean that after Israel is returned to Jerusalem His house will be built... Jesus it is said, will also enter the eastern gate upon His return, and into His temple after it is cleansed

it is also prophesied that the temple sacriufice will be reinstituted

of course we know Jesus is our sacrifice, but i believe scripture teaches that the rebuilding is inevitable

Why? It was already rebuilt (a duty of the Messiah), the temple is Jesus.

no not neccessarily... it is now believed by many that the dome of the rock doesnt sit on the spot of the Holy of Holies, but rather the outer court of the gentiles... which meshes beautifully with revelation 11, where the temple is measured and the worshippers, but the court of the gentiles is left out

I have heard that as well. I believe it will be done. Before 1948 many people doubted that the country of Israel would ever exist again.

Why? It was already rebuilt (a duty of the Messiah), the temple is Jesus.

I do not know if that will need to be done or not. But, if it does, God will take care of it.

The present day fuflilment of these prophecies is in the church of Jesus. We should know that we are the temple. As Isaiah prophesied in Chapter 66. Where is the temple that you build to me... to this man will I look.
There is no where in the New Testament that concuslively tells us that the physical temple in Jer will be rebuilt or that God's people will rebuild it.

No one thought Israel would ever exist again too... until it did... some are still in denial about that even today too... doesn't change the fact that it is there.

Time of the gentiles is over... we are not in the final days...

Rebuilding the temple has more to do with preparations for end time prophecies than it does with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. As scripture says.. prophecy again... the last days will soon be upon us and they are nothing like what has been experienced in the last two thousand years. In fact, there has never been anything like it and it will be a doosie.

I have no disagreement with the fact that we are to be the Temple of God now. But I have a question for you... have you internalized the service to God that God requires in this temple of yours?

Jer 7:4 Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these.

One of the reasons that I believe that we will have another temple is because there will be a fulfillment of this event.

Eze 8:16 And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD'S house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.

Which I tie with this verse...

Hag 2:15 And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD: ....Hag 2:18 Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD'S temple was laid, consider it.

and who says history doesn't repeat itself... only the devil is going to offer this to another.

Mt 4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

At this point this verse will take on a whole new meaning...

Mt 23:21 And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.

Our hearts and dedication should not be with the earthly temple built with man....

2Co 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

We should only observe from the wayside as a sign of the times. For the great imitation shall take over the temple as his.

2Th 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Well, I disagree. It's clearly stated in Rev. that Jesus/Yeshua, our Messiah, will rule and reign from the Temple in Jerusalem. Who builds that temple - I don't know, but I know it's going to be there!

I don't know why the consensus is that the Temple was located on todays "Temple Mount." In order to believe that you have to totally ignore the historical record. Hundreds of references that indicate that the so called "Temple Mount" is in reality the Fortress Antonia. The evidence is overwhelming.

One example: The Temple of Herod was located on a tower. THe Southeastern wall was said to be 450 feet high (Pinnacle). Another 150 feet of the wall was underground and went down to bedrock. You have to ignore Josephus altogether. Is the wall of the SE corner of the Temple MOunt 450 Feet? NO

The real temple mount was located south of the Fortress of Antonia over the Gihon Spring.

2. Haggai prophesies of the glory of the latter house being greater than that of the former. This was never attained to by the the temple restored in that time or when later extended by Herod. Surel ythe ultimate fulfiment is in Christ - His church in our day and ultimately in the redeemed of all ages after the second coming.
3. He who will sits in the temple of God is he who even now seeks to reign over the church which ultimately shall crush his masters head. He already reigns over all nations Jew or gentile who follow not the Messiah. A natural temple in Jerusalem is beside the point. This is a Pauline Epislte - What? Know ye not - you are the temple!
If you only see the natural you will miss the real fulfilment. Let us build three tabernalces ! NO - THIS IS MY BELOVED SON HEAR YE HIM. " I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail!"

If you ar referring to having separated myself from idols, offering up spiritual sacrifices, being established on the foundation of Christ - then the answer is yes.

Jesus himself said that not one stone would be left upon another so the wailing wall is definately not part of the old temple and evidence does indicate it was part of the fortress of Antonia.

For all the Jews failings, at the time of Yeshua first coming, they were not in the inner portion of the temple worshipping the sun, and in fact when Roman soldiers brought the image of the sun into the inner sanctuary, the jews considered it the abomination of desolation of daniel. So Ezekiel's vision of twenty-five elders worshipping towards the east, towards the sun, has not yet bee fulfilled.

I agree, the temple in Jerusalem is besides the point of personal salvation. The Temple in Jerusalem is the focus of the end time events, key is the "god" who sits in the temple expecting worship from the world, and finding out there is still those who refuse to bow the knee.

We are to know our signs of the times and seasons upon us. We are given prophecies that we may know that even when all looks out of control, God is still master in the beginning and in the middle and in the end of it all.

How do you internalize the services of the temple? ... Have you studied all the different objects within the inner sanctuary.

Do you know the difference between that which goes on in the outer court and that which goes on inside the temple? Many christians are in the outer court clinging to the cross. It is important, read Rev 11:1 and 2. There are two groups of believers presented, one group in the outer court is persecuted, the other group is in the inner temple worshipping. Do you not wish to be in the inner part of the sanctuary during such a time as this?

The feasts are spiritual symbolic presentations of prophectic portions of significant changes. Just as the spring feasts forever changed the understanding of spiritual matters for all, when they were fulfilled.... so also will the fall feasts... and we are to rehearse them so that when they happen we recognise them, know what is next, and are the side of God's program which is not taught in sunday school.

The duties of the priests within the temple is something we need to study that we may be actively part of the royal priesthood of Yeshua today.

These are just a few things I can think of off the top of my head, of the importance of what should be going in in that temple of ours in God's service. We can not perform our duties, if we have not learned what is to be going on in the Temple services.

Guess what? You are correct. Rev 21:22 says that the Father and the Son are the temple. Thanks for pointing that out.

I must be thinking of the prophets but it's not that clear in Ezekiel which temple he's talking about. Hmmm.

The name of the book is "The Temples that Jerusalem Forgot." I am still in the process of varifying what has been said in this book - as you always need to do in any case. The author - the late Dr. Ernest Martin was a Universalist and spun off of Armstrong - doctrines that I do not accept. However I have not seen either of these doctrines in his writing. Martin, who was involved in the archeology of Jerusalem changed his view when he began researching the historical record of the Temples back in 1997.

The standard answer is that when Jesus said that one stone would not be left on another he didn't mean the Temple Mount - just the buildings on top of the Temple Mount. Not So. When he said that he had left the Temple and was looking back on it from a distance.

It is acknowledged that the Herodian level is many feet below the current Temple Mount top, though - correct? This would indicate that it was pretty leveled.

Also, the Herodian level is very visibly differentiated from the subsequent levels just on viewing the outside of the retaining walls.
