First, what is a 'rebound relationship?'

Ending a long standing relationship, or suffering through a divorce, can bring up a myriad of different emotions. From self-doubt to low self-esteem, one’s confidence is usually shaken to the core. Some people find that the quickest way to stem the tide of emotion is to jump into another relationship. This jump into a brand new relationship, so quick on the heels of an old one, is called a rebound relationship.

Have you ever been in a rebound relationship?

What was your experience with it?

By what standard would you measure what does or does not constitute a rebound relationship?

Care to elaborate?

Basically flings. I didn't want to have anything to do with them shortly afterwards, but this was immediately after my breakup where I did things like go out and drink, party, immerse myself in work, and basically had a

"I don't like Everybody" outlook. lol.. This was back in 2004. I was a wreck.

I was holding on to Jesus like a Man on the edge of a cliff holding on for dear life... it is the only reason that I didn't unravel. God really is close to the brokenhearted.

Were you the one on the rebound or the one dating the one on the rebound?

Why didn't it work?
ive been on both sides. you enter the relationship for entirely the wrong reasons and they never work out

I have not been in a rebound relationship, although in high school I did do some casual dating after break ups.

Anyway, from observing others who do rebound relationships, I would say that no they do not work. And personally I think rebounds are a really selfish thing to do to the other person.

LOL... dude yeah, I sorta agree with ya.. it isn't the best concept but it's like, I don't know if I would reject a woman just because I didn't want to marry her. Sometimes I hate being a Man, lol.

there are complexities... a Man is a troubled Soul from the get-go... while there are Spectacular Flashes of brilliance in testosterone fueled activities like Prizefighting and other Athletics, the portion of Man that is defiled is his inclinations... his Heart, his pursuit of a Woman and the oft rejection of his better sense.

If we're in the "singles" forum I think we can all testify that rebound relationships don't work! lol
I've rebound a couple of times and I must say if you ACTUALLY like the person you're rebounding to - then there is hope for success.
If it's nothing BUT a rebound, then the relationship will have no substance.
But people DO grow to love each other, so it's possible to make it work.
(not very fair on the poor lad/lass on the receiving end though!)

no, i've never personally been in one. I have observed several people close to me getting into rebound relationships. They are short lived. One being my brother, who is now going through a divorce with the girl he was in a rebound relationship with after his previous relationship ended. It's sad to see. I think people owe it to themselves to heal after a major breakup so they can bring good things to another's life and attract good things to theirs. jmo
