I'm sorry if this seems a little out of date now but I'm curious.

As a Brit, interested in Religion & Politics, I'd like to know why folks voted for/support Bush.

I would be grateful if those that do/did could list a few reasons why.

This is not intended to be cynical or anything and I don't want any arguments to come out of this, Just some reasons.

Thank you

The majority of "Christians" voted for Bush based on his professed Pro-Life stand which the record indicates is anything but pro life as his administration spent more on abortion than the former Clinton administration.

BUSH'S ABORTION FUNDING,

The two main sources for Planned Parenthood funding

The two main sources for Planned Parenthood funding that will be examined in this report are the $50 Million plus Planned Parenthood gets annually through the Title X program, and the est. $50 Million plus Planned Parenthood gets annually through the Medicaid program.

This adds up to a total of over $100 million of federal taxpayer dollars given annually, during George W. Bush's presidency, through just these two programs, made possible by President Bush's own signature of approval on repeated HHS Appropriations bills, to Planned Parenthood, the largest chain of child-murder-by-abortion centers in America, murdering over 200,000 unborn human beings by surgical abortion alone per year.

[Note: In Planned Parenthood's 2002-2003 Annual Report, PP reported committing 227,375 child-murders-by-abortion in 2002. PP reported total income of $766.6 million, of which $288.2 million was from Clinic Operation; $254.4 million was from taxpayer dollars; and $228.1 million was from donations. PP's reported profit was $36.6 million (Source: E-mail from Edward Szymkowiak, December 18, 2003). Therefore, although Title X and Medicaid provide approx. 40% (est.) of the total taxpayer dollars that is given to Planned Parenthood, there are also other government funding sources beside only Title X and Medicaid, that add taxpayer money to Planned Parenthood Federation of America's coffers.]

All of this surgical abortion, chemical abortion, and Planned Parenthood funding is buried in the grotesquely huge U.S. Health and Human Services Appropriations bills that Congress and the President break their oaths of office by voting for and signing each year.

In addition to being immoral by funding surgical abortion, chemical abortion, birth control for unmarried adolescents even if their parents object, and child-murderering-abortionists (i.e. Planned Parenthood), the bills are entirely unconstitutional, full of "pork" funding of local projects, and examples of creeping socialism in America.

1. PLANNED PARENTHOOD FUNDING THROUGH TITLE X

The Title X program includes funding for contraceptive birth control; birth control that causes chemical abortions; and birth control for unmarried adolescents, even if their parents object to the federal government giving their children hormonal drugs and devices with which to fornicate.

The Title X program is also one of the principal federal government funding mechanisms for Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the nation's largest chain of child-murder-by-abortion centers, murdering over 200,000 unborn human beings by surgical abortion alone each year.

George W. Bush is NOT Pro-life
The thought of calling someone who authorizes over $100 million per year of taxpayers' federal funds to be appropriated to Planned Parenthood (Murder, Inc.) "Pro-Life", is outrageous. "He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD." Proverb 17:15

By funding Planned Parenthood, President Bush and the Republican-majority Congress are justifying the wicked. Therefore, according to the Word of God, President Bush, and all those in Congress who voted to pass this baby-killing-funding legislation, are abomination to the LORD. So what would that make a Christian who voted "for" someone who is "abomination to the LORD"?

Personally I don't vote for the lesser of two evils for that would be to vote for evil. I have a King who has given me no authority to vote for a man to rule over me.

I totally disagree with this. I am not here to judge the faith or heart of W but to say that people should be wary of wolves in sheep's clothing. Remember that even Caiphas proclaimed to be a man of religious virtue even though his heart was far from God. I feel as though W. Bush has hoodwinked the Christian vote and do not see the Christian virtues of his policies. (in particular foreign policy) This aside, I think the point should be made that being a man dedicated to doing God's will does not necessarily by itself make someone qualified to hold a position of leadership such as the president.

George W. Bush and the American public ought to take a look at the actions of former president Jimmy Carter, a man whom still seeks out every opportunity to help those in need. When I see this man and all that he lives for, I see a man who's life truly reflects Christ's message to all of us. In respect to this point, it is also interesting to point out the humble nature of the former president. In his actions and humility he seeks not to win the approval of men or acknowledgement, but simply to reap the joys of his work in others lives through Christ.

Remember that Jesus rode to Jeruslem on a donkey colt, is this not teaching us something about the value of humility? It is just my opinion, but I see total arrogance in the way Bush conducts business both home and abroad.

If Bush isnt Pro-life then why is the left so afraid of his judge appointees?

Amen I totally agree with this. President Bush does what is right not what the "loud left" want him to do. I like his faith-based initiatives, fighting terrorism on foreign soil, pro-family and pro-life stances.

Because the Judges will be the ones decidiing on free speech and privicy issues not abortion. Abortion is the big drum some Republicans beat to rally their troops if it ever really got overturned people might start questioning some of the other stuff they hide behind this issue. Just a thought.
tulc(been in the abortion trenches a long time and it seems the only thing that gets repealed is our right to free speech and protest) :sigh:

I voted for Bush because of the Judges he has selected and the judges he will select. Judges who kbow abortion is murder and judges who know that marriage can only be between one man and one woman.

and i like his faith-based attitude and encouraging faith based groups helping the poor and working in prisons.

all for JESUS!!

Does a pro lifer sign (consent) his approval "on repeated HHS Appropriations bills, to Planned Parenthood, the largest chain of child-murder-by-abortion centers in America, murdering over 200,000 unborn human beings by surgical abortion alone per year."

Bush's appointees are all for show. If abortion is ever outlawed in the U.S., which is doubtful at best, how would so called pro lifers ever get elected ?

How many babies have been saved during Bush's first pro life term ? Zero.

How many babies have been saved through the political process since Roe v Wade became "law" in 1972 although 2/3 of the presidents in the past 33 years were "pro-life" ?

Zero.

How long will the church continue to buy the lie ?

Same justification used to institute militant Islamic governments in the middle east. Creepy.

This is a bit absurd, Minion. Personally, I would rather please God than man. Would you draw parallels between me and Islamo-fascists, also?

Please whatever or whoever you wish. But when you start trying to change my government so that it is forcing me to please your God, then I will definitley draw a parallel between you and the 'Islamo-fascists.' And a government made of men who base their decisions on "pleasing God" is probably gonna end up like that. Wouldn't be the first time.

It all changes when you try to force your preferences and beliefs on me. That's the difference (I presume) between you and the radical-Islamic theocracies.
