• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Please be gentle with yourself. Your BP is just talking.
I did that in '91 and '98.
I was in a coma for 1 week in '91 and woke up in restraints in '98. They got my meds right in '02 and now I am so happy to be alive.
Fight to live...Life is worth fighting for.
I will be praying for you.

I offer friendly advice:

1) Don't try to commit suicide in something designed to save your life.

2) Consider seeking out a bipolar support group. I'm bipolar and I facilitate just such a support group in Phoenix. My group is one of about a dozen that serves our bipolar population. If you live in a city, there should be something near you. Being around people who understand is such an amazing relief. If you don't know a way out of the hole you're in, someone there might.

Please tell someone on staff, the nurse, the nurse's assistant, the doctor, anyone, that you are contemplating suicide. You need help, and the staff at the hospital can do that for you. Beg the doctor to adjust your meds. Tell the doctor all of your symptoms.

You are a beloved child of God. You are precious in His sight. He loves you with an everlasting love. Get yourself into the Bible, and ask God to show you His love for you through His Word. He is faithful and will do that for you. He's done it for me.

God bless.

Thanks Trish. I try to be honest but I'm also needed at home so I don't know. I just feel soooo sad. Things just aren't good and especially with my husband. I wonder if it would be a relief to die?

Question, which you don't have to answer here, but in your mind do so. If you don't want to be honest with the staff about what is going on with you, because you are needed at home, HOW would killing yourself be better?

Also, something to think about: We are only as sick as our secrets. How can you expect to get well if you refuse to be honest with the medical staff about your suicidal thoughts? Satan is the father of lies. He came to kill, steal and destroy. Lying so you can go home will only keep you sick. What you are basically saying is that you really don't want to get better, because if you really wanted to get better, you would let your doctor know what is going on, so he/she can help you. Doctors can't help us if they don't know what is going on with us. Why won't you let the doctor help you?

To someone with clinical depression there is no rhyme or reason to the sadness. It just blasts through all justifications against it. I've been there a lot recently (I'm recently unemployed). My advice is to stay safe and wait it out. Try to stay busy and take the pills. It worked for me.

Distract your mind if you can. Find something funny to watch or play a mindless game on your comp. The reason you have anxiety and are depressed is real but is amplified by your mental illness so distractions are good, allowing the full swing of your emotions to pass from this intense feeling.
