Are you saying you do not love Jesus Christ? ( I am not like trying to take you to task but just wondering why?).

I realize your post is well meaning but DB Hart is misrepresenting Orthodox Christianity. We may believe in a greater threshold of mercy than western Christianity has often proclaimed but we are not universalists.

I wasn't trying to lump DBH and EO together. I was just pointing out another thread on this subject. And aside from that, that the Eastern view is different and closer to the original than the Western and Protestant view. If I was looking for a representative of the EOC I'd be more inclined to go with Archbishop Lazar Puhalo and Bishop Kallistos Ware.

Or perhaps Steve Robinson and Fr. Anthony Karbo

Focus more on God's love for you. His love is perfect, yours and mine is far from it.

Some people will go to "a hell", and not get to go to heaven, even though Jesus is Savior of all people, etc, and even though at some point, all will acknowledge that, etc, but some will be forced to, while others will have already have/had, etc, anyway, regardless of all of that, some will go to a hell, that will be forever for them after that, while some will get to go to heaven...

But hell is just more of here, etc... They will more than likely "sleep" until their time or their turn comes around again to ever exist only in what will be just be only more of only this only here, etc, and that will be for eternity for them, etc...

For these fallen realities will come around again and again and again for all eternity, etc, and they are meant only for only them only, etc... They are only quote/unquote "conscious" (and I use that word very, very loosely in reference to them, etc) (even while they were supposedly ever truly "conscious" here, etc)... anyway... they are only quote/unquote "conscious" (again) ever, only when they are brought back again for only more of this here ever again, etc, and are always quote/unquote "asleep" when and while they are not, either there or here, etc, for there never ever was a place for them ever other than just more of this here, etc...

They will not ever be conscious of any kind of former life, or lives, etc, if you want to call them that, etc, even though they technically had them here, etc...

But it will not be so for those of us going to heaven... We will be "conscious of all", and that will be forever after that, and it will not ever be torment anymore for us, etc, but it still will be for them, etc, and these are both "eternal", etc...

Anyway,

God Bless!

i have much respect for Jesus, He is the only human to have never sinned. I find that simply amazing. But as for the fear of hell, i can tell you now that if it wasnt for that one fear, i’d either be in prison or dead right now. Its not the love of Jesus that keeps me up at nite, its the fear of dying in my sleep only to awaken to being in hell. My sin doesnt bother me beyond knowing that it is a sin. How else do you explain having a habitual sin for over 30 yrs on a daily basis...

i dont have love. I dont think i ever have. Love as an emotion is foreign to me.

That's why I said to focus on God's love for you. You not having love is quite possibly a neurological and or psychological issue. I'm on the autism spectrum and because of that my feeling of love is limited.

But, it is though...

1 Corinthians 15:20-58...

Then all the verses on hell, etc...

Many of them from Jesus himself, etc...

And verses about those who inherit the kingdom of God, or attain to the resurrection, and those who do not, etc, and why, etc...

And verses about new creations, and other creations after and/or before this one also, etc...

God Bless!

Dude, you make it sound like you believe in reincarnation.
Well, if you know anything about all the pagan ideas regarding reincarnation, you would know that is really not what I'm talking about at all, etc...

A kind of recycling maybe, yes, reincarnation, no, etc...

God Bless!

Jesus didn’t describe it as merely being separated from God, someone some people don’t want to be with in the first place.
Jesus used many metaphors to explain things to a population that was uneducated for the most part.

There are many views among Christians, ranging from literal reading to:
a) a mental state of mind on this Earth
b) a symbol of a judgement in the first century
c) a temporal punishment with an eternal outcome
d) many other views and combinations so that its practically impossible to list them

Firstly, We need to understand that we are brought on this world for two things. And that is to love God with ALL our minds, hearts, soul and strengths And to love each other. But we don't do that.
Secondly, There are different levels of hell. We don't all burn in hell for eternity. We are punished according to our sins. Some of us will be punished for hundreds years and others thousands years.
Thirdly, We do not suffer eternally for our temporary sins. Remember that God gave us the Bible, pastors, prophets, churches e.t.c to avoid going to hell BUT generation after generation, WE DO NOT LISTEN. We are ignorant. Ignorance is one if not the biggest sin of all and the punishment for ignorance is eternal fire. May God Bless You

You should struggle with the idea of hell. It's a church doctrine, not a doctrine of Christ.
Jesus talked a great deal more about the reality of a hell, than he did the reality of a heaven, etc...

I wish I could "tickle your ears" with something "much more pleasing", etc, but truth is truth, etc, and it is what it is, etc, and Jesus said what He said, etc...

God Bless!

Like @MMXX shared, Steve Gregg does some great work on the subject. He even replies to email questions, since I’ve enquired myself. If you can, and if you’re really hungry to grasp the topic of hell from every angle, grab a copy of All you want to know about Hell, by Steve Gregg.

Over 300 pages and I read it in a day, it’s that good. No bias, no pushing us in any direction, just a strong biblical case for all the relevant views. Then we can decide for ourselves.

For what the option of a stranger is worth, the more I learn about Christianity, the less I believe that the purpose of hell is eternal conscious torment.

The fact that yourself and many others believe that he talked more about hell, does not make it so. A misunderstanding of scripture, does not a biblical truth make.

BTW, I did a search for the words "Heaven" and "Hell" and there was 54 for Hell, but 551 for the word Heaven, so....

Hell certainly didn’t occupy much space in Paul’s theology or in the Old Testament, and since Paul makes up the bulk of the New Testament, that relegates hell to what we think Jesus taught and a verse or two in Revelation.
