We've been attending for about two months now, and we're really enjoying our neighborhood church. Received communion for the first time in a Methodist church yesterday, and it was very refreshing. Much more meaningful and refreshing than the cracker and cups in the churches we've been at before.

I'm glad you are enjoying a UMC congregation! I also find the UM way of communing very meaningful.

Interesting .. I've taken communion at quite a few different churches and so quite a few different ways. They were all meaningful to me.
The one time I was upset was in a church that only let member take communion and I as a visitor couldn't commune with these new (to me) believers.
I've never liked close communion since then.

Personally I find being served in the pew with little cups and little squares of "bread" to be less meaningful. It is just a step or two too far from the original symbolism of communion for me.
