I have realized that I sometimes come off as a very strict Biblical interpretationalist - with no room for other interpretations. I firmly believe the Bible is 100% the Inspired Word of God and that we, as Christians, MUST NOT change the Bible, or nit-pick it to death, to better suit our own personal agenda or wants.

But I also realize - Others have different interpretations of many things. Some I agree with, others I find to be blatantly against Scripture, and many interpretations of various Scriptures that I just "don't know" about. With that said, I'm learning. We're all learning. I've come to learn something in the past few days that I need to be more humble, soft and inviting in my sharing of my beliefs. So I wanted to state that here, as I'm sure I've ruffled a few feathers.

Note: I fully and complete reserve the right to continue to challenge interpretations whenever possible... even if only for the sake of the discussion. :D

BKG - you are often the one who brings us back in line with scripture, man! Don't be too soft and inviting! Who else is going to keep a knucklehead guy like me in line? Sometimes you need to carry a big stick and spit lightning bolts out of your mouth. LOL! Anyway, I do respect your views and disagree with very few of them. You're right, we're all learning together.

Thanks, SC...

A friend and I had a prayer meeting tonight. Both of us have a desire to be what I call "Confidently humble". This is something that I admittedly know very little about, but I still have a hope that God will lead me in this direction.

Hey Brian. How was Thanksgiving?
So-So, I guess. I'm admittedly not a huge holiday person, especially since the divorce. It was met with some of the same looks of "I wonder how he is doing?" and questions of "have you heard from her?" that I expected. What wasn't expected was a lengthy conversation with my cousin and her husband about marriage/divorce and the covenant relationship vs. contract relationship issues that I think our society struggles with. It was a good conversation.

Later that night, after driving home from g-ma's, I found a crack in the frame of my 4Runner... So that was just the icing on the cake. Fortunately, it's stored for the Winter and I don't have to worry about it until spring, but it's going to be a fun repair... I miss wrenching, but this wasn't the type of thing I had in mind. :D :D

It was my first Thanksgiving since the divorce, and it's thankfully over. I've realized that it's hard to e thankful at times. But the most important thing in the world is to thank God daily for all of the amazing blessings in our lives. I have a house, a good job, great friends, family who loves me, and a God who will not forsake me... Really - what else can a person ask for?:confused:

One holiday down, one to go. ;);) Anyone want to do Christmas shopping for me? Please? :D:D

We are confident in Jesus and never in our flesh. Awesome post brother. I agree with the humility part.
For myself, the struggle has been more with a soft heart than with humility although the two do go hand in hand. The saying winning the battle but losing the war comes to mind. Meaning in the process of battling to hang on to my marriage , I became bitter and hard hearted. Then one day the Lord showed me the scripture where Jesus says because of the hardness of your hearts he allowed divorce. So here I was winning the battle of standing for my marriage but losing the war by falling into the same sin that caused my ex to have an affair and leave me. That sin being hardness of heart.God is after our hearts and I realised that when I looked past the surface issues of adultery and abandonment that the real reason for the divorce was a hard heart. I observed newly marryed couples and they had soft hearts towards eachother.I realised that my ex had not gotten to the point of leaving me in one day or week but had slowly hardened her heart over years.
Anyway, just thought I would share that with you for what it is worth. Just remember God is always after the heart.

Witnessing opportunities come in the strangest places at the strangest times with the strangest people. I'm glad you survived. Hopefully Christmas won't be so bad. I would be happy to shop for you, but I have enough of my own to do.
