  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

It can be a hard thing to accept on occasion. It's hard to accept something that you can see no physical evidence of. We have to have faith that when Jesus speaks, he speaks the truth- "This IS My Body, broken for thee". We have to have faith that the Fathers, the Council of Trent, the Magisterium actually do speak the truth.

It's all about faith, if we try to demonstrate the Real Presence by observation or reason, we will fail. If we lean fully on Christ and His Church, we can be sure of this doctrine.

Anyways, I will pray for you.

The Church has always believed this, even groups that have split still hold this belief.
Eastern Orthodox, Anglicans, Lutherans, and Old Catholics
However, one should note that not all of these belief systems hold that the Real Presence happens in the same way :)

Sure, for Anglicans, we believe in the Real Presences and we say how it changes form is a Holy Mystery. Elizabeth I is often quoted as saying.

"Christ was the word that spake it.
He took the bread and break it;
And what his words did make it
That I believe and take it."

So, just remember, even heretics in the Anglican Communion believe in it!:crossrc:

I'm starting to doubt the Real Presence. I ask for your prayers and any advice you have so I can gain faith.

Everytime Catholics go to Mass they celebrate the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. If you doubt and eventually not believe in the Real Presence what would you believe? I hope it's not the Real Absence.

There is a mistake often made in the journey of faith that one when one has no feelings of faith about a certain thing that one therefore has no faith in a certain thing. Nothing could be more wrong- it is precisely in those times when we have no sensible feelings or perceptions of a thing that we are able to have the MOST faith.

Faith is an act of the will- a saying " Lord, I cannot perceive you in anyway, and yet I believe that you are truly present in the Eucharist. I believe this becuase You have said it.(John 6) I am struggling with this truth, but I desire to believe it. I desire to believe with all of my heart soul and mind. My Lord and My God, I believe, please help my unbelief!"

DOn't dwell on unbelief- merely make an act of faith- and move on. Satan wants us to dwell on our struggles, becuase then we fail to merely trust in the Word of God. It can sometimes be a great struggle, but we just need to keep making an act of faith again and again, over and over, every time at the first hint of a doubt. Remeber this is a battle- and we want to strike back quickly and decisively.

For nearly a year I was nearly constantly assailed by doubts about things even so basic as the existence of God- I was blessed to learn the art of spiritual warfare- namely through making acts of faith and saying the Apostle's Creed at the slightest hint of a doubt. Faith has nothing to do with doubts, merely how we respond to those doubts. If you stuggle with the EUcharist- read John 6 or 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 each time you question it- or make some other act of faith in the Real Presence, or pray the Anima Christi. Have a battle plan- and every time doubt creps in fight unto victory!
