  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When Christ instituted the Lord's supper he said this is my body, this is my blood. We
take this to mean He is physically present, and the bread and wine are thru Him, true body and blood.
Matthew 24 talks about being alert for false teachers, prophets and people claiming to
be the messiah, like the antichrist deceiving you into turning away from Him.
I hope this helps

My question is how can one believe in the real presence of Christ in the Lord's Supper when Jesus has ascended bodily into heaven. This verse here comes to mind Matthew 24:23,26.

This isn't meant to provoke anger. I just want to know what Lutherans would say concerning these verses.

Peace

One of the key doctrines of Christianity is the dual nature of Christ; true God and true man at in one person. Being true God, He possesses all of the attributes of God; two of which are omnipresence an omnipotence. Omnipresence is ever present; omnipotence is all powerful.

Since Christ has told us that His body and blood are present, and his is God and all powerful; we accept Him at His word. It is His body and it is His blood. :)

Hi donny23. Mark R. said it better than I can- I just want to add that the early Christians historically believed in the Real Presence of the Eucharist.
I believe it is in the Bible, as well when Jesus says" This IS my Body, This IS my Blood...shed for you for the forgiveness of sins."
Matthew 26: 26-29

Jesus said that he is present wherever two are three are gathered in his name. He also said that he will be present with his church until the end of the age.

The two natures of Christ cannot be separated. Where he is present in his Divine nature he is also present in his Human nature.

Well said.

HOW God does what He says is an issue that often is beyond our puny, limited, fallen, sinful brains to comprehend. But our inability to "explain" it doesn't make God wrong.
