Here I am
I stand outside your cage
And gaze longingly in at you
Desperate for the chance to be let in
To grab hold of you and shake off the self-imposed shackles
Help you tear down your comforting walls which keep me out
Slip off mask after mask revealing the real you behind
Not perfect, not fine, not always coping
Able to cry out, to ask for help
To be helpless, in a situation
But not in life itself
The very power to do all this lies in your hands
In your heart, in your mind
Your decision to make and yet it comes with the cost
Of potential hurt, or possible harm
That just may accompany letting the defences down and others in
And so as I watch and hope and pray
For you to have life and live it to the full I offer up
This final word to you: Keep it Real!...
And if it's not, then make it so!
