  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Real Friends
by Gary C. Michael June 29, 2009

Real friends are those who love each other.
They can be spouses or even sister and brother.
They come from those met on the street.
Time spent together can be pretty neat.

When rebuked, friends don’t get upset.
Knowing that love is why they get what they get.
Real friends stick through thick and thin,
when they both are trying to overcome sin.

Friends don’t get jealous of each other.
They are out to help one another.
Real friends learn the meaning of trust.
In order to survive, this is a must.

Real friends don’t deceive and play games.
They don’t accuse and make false claims.
When real friends are needed, they will be right there,
as a symbol of the fact that they really do care.

Real friends don’t lead each other astray.
If they do, it’s not by design, I say.
Real friends don’t treat each other like dirt.
They don’t intentionally do things that hurt.

Real friends love for each other to be around,
in one or another’s home or running through town.
Oh what fun it can really be,
when Christian love is what we see.

Real friends are rare and hard to find,
because they need to be of the same mind.
God puts those together who don’t want to be corrupt,
and you can count on Satan to try to bust them up.
