  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

From my blog. interested in feedback.

One of the hardest parts to read in The Bible is genealogy. It bores me. I typically skim over it until I reach the next chapter.
Ashley and I recently found a daily Bible reading plan in which we will read the book in its entirety over the next year. We're both really enjoying it, even though we're only 4 days into it. As I was reading my daily chapters I noticed I was coming up on the genealogy of Noah. I had decided in my mind that I would do my typical routine. Skim. As I got closer to reading the text a truth became more evident. The Bible is God's divine words, and every verse is profitable. This means that the genealogy in the Bible is not only profitable to us, but was important enough to God that He put it in the The Bible Himself(divinely spoken through Prophets)!

So what is there to get out of reading genealogy?

A lot of people use it to debate the idea that the Earth is only 2,000 years old(Young Earth Old Earth), but more importantly it shows our value to God. God found it fit to document the birth, life, and death of His people; and I find that fascinating beyond belief. What's more fascinating is that God loved us so much that He sent Jesus to die for our sins. I pray that truth stings every time I sin against Him and draws me closer.

For my Growth, to God's Glory
