Romans 9: 6-8

But it is not as though the word of God had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel, and not all are children of Abraham because they are his descendants; but "Through Isaac shall your descendants be named." This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are reckoned as descendants.

When God promised Abram a son, Abram and his wife Sarah interpretted God's promise to mean that Abram would have a son through the maiden Hagar.
(By the current laws over there back then, such a son would be legally Sarah's son.)

But this was man's thinking, to have a son through carnal means.

God promised Abraham a son through his wife Sarah, and lo and behold, it was so: Isaac.

Isaac is the son of the promise, not son of the flesh (Ishmael).

It means that salvation is not only for those who are Jewish by blood, but rather to anyone.

I think you're both right. Also we must take into account the Jewish line which was Isaac and not Ishmael. Ishmael was banished with his mother and his descendents were to become Arabs.
