It has been my sad experience too, that judgement from "Christians" is much harsher than judgement from non-christians. I too have been "quesitoned" about my salvation because we went to a church that had instruments, or took communion on Sunday evening, or...the list goes on.Well, you know...It just strikes a chord when someone tells you your salvation is in question...That you are going to hell because your church uses instruments...And that they will pray that "you repent of your sins, and turn back to God".
I know we are persecuted for being christians, but really...from other christians??? Thats just absolutely ridiculous, and scary. Ad yes, I am aware that this was an isolated incident...Not everyone from the coC is like this...Believe me, they are not. I guess I am more disapointed than anything.
Yeah, you can understand where I was coming from. If anything, it was sad, as well as scary to think that people who are christian could treat another christian this way. I appreciate the kind words. It has been my sad experience too, that judgement from "Christians" is much harsher than judgement from non-christians. I too have been "quesitoned" about my salvation because we went to a church that had instruments, or took communion on Sunday evening, or...the list goes on.
I think that is why when I first came here, and we were looking for a church home, I was very gun-shy about attending another CoC. Ironically, we were lead back to a CoC, but it is definitely on the "edge"--at least as far as many conservative church members are concerned. I've been condemned, talked about, ignored and have lost what I thought were really valuable friendships over issues like this. It makes me sad and it seems unnecessary. There isn't much I can do about it though. The mind-set is there and they pretty much they what they are going to think.
We all have the same bible, yet for some reason, we tend to look at these issues very differently. I wish we could simply agree to disagree and go on, but that often doesn't seem possible. Instead, we often get hit with, "you need to read your bible more" or "you need to study these things more and let the bible speak for itself" or "it may not be wrong, but why take a chance?"![]()

They just arent' where you are at. You just have to bypass the condeming attitudes and do what you know is right, in your heart, before God. As long as you know you are not going against the Lord or the scripture, then everything is well with the Lord.
I hope peace will find you on this issue.
