  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Its hard to reach out across the aisle when people like Atlantis dump their preconceptions onto others without ever having identified just where they are in their beliefs. And his using terms without any clarification of what he means by them; mere pejorative labels.

It's important to realize that even though God loves us all, He is a person with ways that must be respected. God sent His Son Jesus to die for our sins. He said that there is no other name given under Heaven whereby we must be saved. The problem with "fellowshipping" with Buddhists, however much goodwill we'd like to impart, is that they do not believe in Jesus as the way. Buddha is "another name".

So, while we love you as a person, and respect compassion as an attribute of a "good person", it will not save you. Jesus said that those who believe and are baptized will be saved. Those who do not will be damned. It's not my wish to upset you, but I am obligated to tell you this, since according to His Word, you will be accountable for the choice you make.

God is love and He has made a way for us to become adopted sons and daughters. The new covenant said that He'll write His Law on our hearts. He said that He'd indwell us and that we'd become His "sheep", with Jesus as our shepherd. His sheep would know His voice, so you can truly know God and hear His voice by becoming a Christian, with the benefit of obtaining eternal life.

There's no telling what the Baptist church told you, but it is with compassion that I tell you, that God has made a way for you to be saved, through Jesus Christ. There is no other path to life.

If you are interested, I would be happy to share scripture with you regarding the attributes of God, and how to enter into "covenant" with Him. Otherwise, it's difficult to act like things will work out well for you without Jesus, because His Word says otherwise.

<The church that I attend actually hosts an interfaith discussion group on Wednesday night, and the leader of a local Buddhist temple and I sat down for coffee together,
and he mentioned how he noticed Christianity and Buddhism are actually quite similar.

Have you not read the scripture where Paul said, "What fellowship does light have with darkness? Or Christ with Belial?"

There is no similarity whatsoever to Buddhism. Christianity acknowledges a sovreign God, creator of all things. He has said that those things contrary to His ways are called "sin". God sent His Son, Jesus to die on a wooden cross to redeem man from the penalty God requires of sin (blood). God states in His Word that there is no other way to life or peace other than Jesus. All who do not enter covenant with Him are wicked in His sight. There is no peace for the wicked. To attain some state of being whereby one is enlightened or brought into some state of contentment without Jesus is a "doctrine of demons".

While both "religions" love peace, peace is a person in Christianity, and His name is Jesus. There is no reincarnation. After death is judgment. Those who do not receive Jesus as their savior face an eternal punishment whereby one is separated from God forever.

A spirit of antichrist is one that advocates for an alternative to Jesus as the way, and should be rejected as such. If you believe this as a Christian, it is to have compassion to warn others who speak otherwise.
