  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi ! I am not Catholic, nor am I here to debate or verbally slay anyone thats .......way to messy.

My husband was Catholic, then left the Catholic Church for several years only to fully return back to the church about 3 months ago....

I am curious as too what Saint you honor and why ? I am kind of doing an independant study just out of curiousity !

My MIL has a statue of St. Francis in her back yard !

Again just curious ?

DEAR SISTER IN CHRIST,

i revere all the Saints--both Orthodox Christian and Roman Catholic--both for the fact that they are our Brothers and Sisters in Christ who have gone before to prepare our way, but also because they have been given to us, by God, as rolemodels and intercessors to enable us to follow their footsteps into the Kingdom.
Each one of the Saints has different qualities--"specialities" if you will--which i have found most helpful on my Spiritual Journey, and i tend to gravitate towards the ones who have the Spiritual qualities which i want or need the most. My top 5 are: My Patron Saint--Saint Ephraim the Syrian--who has helped me to to learn and utilize--however impefectly--the principles of Repentance; Saint Mary of Egypt--who has been a great help in my intercessory prayers for the Salvation of others; Saint Silouan the Athonite--who has been my rolemodel par ecellance and intercessor in my long and slow journey towards learning true humility (Praise God for His patience!); Saint John the Wonderworker of Shanghai and San Francisco--who has shown me how in live a Godly life in ungodly environments; and, perhaps my favorite, Saint Therese--the "Little Flower"--who has taught me the importance of doing little things for God with great Love.
Without the Saints--their guidance and intercession--i would be much further away from the Light than i am now, and i praise our God for providing them for our benefit.
i'm not clear on the reason for your question, but may you be Blessed to find what--or who--you are seeking! :crossrc: KNOCK AND THE DOOR WILL BE OPENED TO YOU!

MUCH LOVE IN CHRIST,
ephraimanesti

Holly Hobbie,

I love many Saints but my favorite is St. Faustina, Jesus had used her diary to make me fall in love with Himself.

When I pray, I pray to God as "Father", or as "Jesus" or as "Holy Sppirit"...
But I like to read about the saints (all of them), because they are people that lived for God, just as I want to do...

Given that they have achieved what you desire to achieve, why would it be wrong--given that they are alive and well before the Throne as part of the Church Triumphant--to ask their Loving direction and intercession on your behalf to the end that you, too, could become what they are? If you can ask your Pastor and the brothers/sisters you fellowship with to pray for you in this regard, why not a Saint who has run the race ahead of us and achieved the prize we are now seeking?

IN CHRIST'S LOVE,
