  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How can someone that has been circumsized be circimsized again?

I had a strange dream and I was argueing with someone about being circumsized. She said that I was going to have to be circumsized again. At first I just said ok and started to turn around to walk away, but then I stopped and turned around and said I'm already circumsized. She said Your gonna have to be circumsized again.

How are you going to do that? It can't be done. I don't understand. Your gonna kill me.

She just sat there behind a desk and just started looking at things that were on her desk.

I said, I don't think you heard me. I'm already circumsized. How can I be circumsized again?

Then I woke up and I kept thinking over and over again. How can I be circumsized again.

After a minute, I began to think about circumsizeing my heart. Is that what I need to do? Do I need to circumsize my heart? What does that mean?

I remembered the very 1st thing I heard when I went into a catholic church many years ago, before I converted, "Do not harden your heart after hearing the voice of God".

Can these be connected?

I also began to remember about when Moses died. Before the river was parted for the Iraeli's to cross over into the promise land, they had to be circumsized again. I've learned from Messianic rabbi's what that means.

Kind of a scary thought.

I think I read something about circumsizeing your heart in the New Testament... right?

I'll search for these things soon, just thought I'd share with you guys. Ya'll are sharp as a whip.

Interesting. It makes me think about Evangelicals who believe that people should be baptized again after having a conversion experience. Baptism is the work of God through the Sacrament. Being "baptized" a second time makes about as much sense as trying to be circumcised a second time: once it has been done, it has been done. It cannot be done a second time because there is nothing to do.

Circumcision of the heart. Read Romans 2.

Circumcision has value if you observe the law, but if you break the law, you have become as though you had not been circumcised. So then, if those who are not circumcised keep the law’s requirements, will they not be regarded as though they were circumcised? The one who is not circumcised physically and yet obeys the law will condemn you who, even though you have the written code and circumcision, are a lawbreaker.

A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.

that can't be it.

I think Reading Romans 2 in context will clear things up for you.

Your reaction though reminds me of Nicodemus in John 3.

Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”

“How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”

Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

“How can this be?” Nicodemus asked.
“You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things?
Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

Circumcision of the heart. Read Romans 2.

this is the 1st thing that came to mind. If it means what I think it does, then to me it means dropping a layer of defenses. I'm not sure how to go about doing this.

What struck me was his reaction. It reminded me of Nicodemus. I think he'll get what he is supposed to get by reading those chapters in John & Romans.

The thing about dreams - the symbolic means is usually our understanding of things. So if your subconscious is thinking this - then you will dream it.
Whatever it is bothering you - was made manifest in your dream.

Peace.
