  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are there any RC/Electronics nerds here?
I love toying with these things and tweaking them to get best performance. How about robotics? Anyone here interested in that as well?

I dable in a bit of both but enjoy my robots more than RC stuff, even though it is about the same. ;)

My dad, brother-in-law and myself are really into RC's. In fact, I'm sitting here looking at two Traxxas Stampede's, two Traxxas T-Maxxes, 3 RC airplanes, and an RC helicopter.

Late spring to early fall is our racing season and is quite fun.

And like you I loooooove experimenting with stuff. Not so much with the electronics but aerodynamics. I have a foam RC plane that I use as a test platform for different ideas. So far I've tried slotted elevons (HUGE performance increas!), leading edge slots, winglets, even an extra "rocket booster" to help out with those sticky situations.

As far as the trucks go... between having two trucks (nitro T-Maxx and electric Stampede) basic repairs keep me more than busy enough... not to mention any testing with them.

Fun-times!

I'm a fairly new RC pilot. I have all sorts of ideas of cool things to try once I get to the point where I can go out flying for a session and not break anything. Bigger motor and hauling up a camera is number one on my list. Figuring out a way to drop various things is a close second.

I also just saw a description of someone who had painted their plane, a very slow flying "stick" plane, to look like a bird, and then proceeded to devise a system to make it "poop" in the air using a servo activated mousetrap to squish a kechup package.

Dude, that's awesome about the bird paint scheme!! lol

Recently I purchased the Parkzone Typhoon 3D and have been having an absolute BLAST with that plane! At first it was very tricky to fly due to everything really far out of trim, but now that she tracks straight as an arrow, it's really a simple airplane to fly! My buddy at work clocked it at about 35 MPH with my radar gun.... I'd say that's pretty good for a FOAM airplane right out of the box! haha

And my friend recently rekindled interest in the E-Flite Blade CP I have. He saw me fly the heli once and the next day went out and purchased the CP Pro. Since then I've upgraded mine to essentailly the CP Pro with the aerobatic enhancement kit, carbon fiber main and tail rotors, and have even purchased some scale bodies! I ordered an HH-60 and MD-500 scale body for my helicopter and a Bell 206 Jetranger for my friend.

I got the military version of the MD-500 so it will have the rocket launch rails and what-not. In the future I'll rig this bad-boy up to launch some fireworks!

Please use extreme caution if doing this. Not only is it against AMA rules, it is illegal in many places that fireworks are legal. If somone gets hurt or property is damaged, it will be more amunition for those that would like to see our hobby go away or be even further regulated.
