Someone donated a working 2010 Apple iPad 1, so I got right on it. With 1\4 gigabyte of RAM and a single-core 32 bit Atom chip, this touchscreen device easily surfs the web and plays YouTube videos. Its 9 1\2 inch screen is bright and clear.

You have to buy an Apple card to download games and other aps, but it rejects most of them as they are too powerful for it to handle.

Starting with iOS 3 (not the same as the full OS that regular Apple Computers use) it received a free upgrade to iOS 5 before Apple dropped support.

It is very easy to figure out and we connected to our Wi-Fi with no problems.

I consider the $70 Amazon price for a used one too high, but that is within the range of pawnshop prices (in Mexico) for similar devices. When new, it cost $499. My opinion? $10 is a fair price, with $20 being the max.

I agree with Wookie. For about $85 US (here in Mexico) you can get a new Android tablet that is far more powerful. The obsolete iPad will have a much larger screen, but I do not feel that it justifies $70 US.

I also have an older tablet, in my case a Samsung android. It has a dual core chip, 32GB of storage, and 1GB of Memory. Dual-band wireless-N WiFi even. Still quite useful, has more life left in it. Battery is in good condition.

I still have my ipad 1. Just switched off to a temporary cheap android - want to get an asus 3s 10 when it's available again. Haven't decided what to do with the old ipad just yet. Hate to waste it.

My family has an Ipad 2 and hate it at this point. More and more new "apps" require newer Ipads or newer IOS (the operating system of Ipad) updates that it says it can't install because the update only works on newer Ipads.

That and it runs slow. And if you do ALOT of web surfing, it can crash or freeze up. At least with the Ipad 2. I've told others its not like a laptop, it can only do so much. At least with a laptop you can upgrade everything like memory. With the Ipads your stuck with what you get. At this rate our Ipad 2 is considered ancient.

Price wise for Ipad 1, you can buy new and used at most at $65. On ebay its random but I try to avoid that site because its what people are asking for, not the general price it sells for like at Amazon. Even Apple doesn't sell Ipad 1s any more, not even refurbished ones.

Yeah I'd say try $20, and if no one wants it lower it to $10. Also make sure you remove everything from it like personal info. I think you can "Factory reset" it from the settings.

Note the SOC chip on the iPad 1 is an Apple A4, the same as on the iPhone 4, with an ARM A8 CPU. Not an Intel Atom or even the same architecture.
