  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

That site is fun. In fact, one of my flight professors loves that site too. While we were taking our final, he was on there rating himself and his fellow professors. :p He's a very goofy guy to say the least. :)

I like that site, but one thing I have noticed is that sometimes professors get horrible reviews, but then I get them and love them. My intro to social work professor got horrible reviews and so far she seems really cool. I had another professor like that last semester. My university has their own ratemyprofessor.com as well, which is really cool.

Well I can't join in the fun cos I am Australia, but personally I'd wait to have them for a bit and make up my own mind. I think if I read that first I'd go in with the mindset that prof x is really nasty, when they could be pretty cool but you just need a drier sense of humour to understand them or something.

Out of my professors, lecturers and tutors, most are pretty good. One I'd love to slap on the face and even though myself and 100 other students wrote scathing reviews of her last year she got a promotion. I think the dept shoves those things (the reviews) through the shredder.

Another one is unbelieveably OC, and he drives me beserk when I watch him setting up for a class. And another looks at my chest more than my face when we talk. But the rest are awesome. I think I actually did pretty well in the teacher stakes. :)

I did that, once. I learned real quick that I would listen to my peers the next time. I took a class because I was interested in the subject. The teacher got horrible reviews from my peers (not on a website, but in talking to them). I decided to go in with an open mind. Ruined my GPA because I didn't take the advice of my peers. Thankfully, it was early in my Undergrad career so I was able to build it back up.

Actually, I meant it more the other way around. I would rather go in with an open mind and make up my own mind (ie: give them a freakin' chance!), rather than listen to the gossip going around.

In many of my cases I am glad I did that. One guy who had a rep for being a bit odd I actually really enjoy, although I do admit that some people would probably misconstrue his jokes entirely because its just not their sense of humour.

I don't know ... I guess I am just more for giving someone a fair go and not joining in the lynching mob before I've had a chance to make up my own mind.

Last semester someone printed out the ratings for all of the professors in my department and posted them on a student bulletin board. Soon some of the students were laughing their heads off at some of the hilarious but sadly true comments.

This professor is one that I unfortunately have to take, because he is the only one who teaches a class I need. I've also had him before, and I can say that his overall score is just about right.

Yeah, it's a tough call whether to believe those reviews or not. I have agreed with about 90% of them. Another thing to keep in mind is that some profs are completely different at the end of the quarter and can really change things. I've had several who seemed really cool at the beginning, but ended up being complete jirks at the end. I thought the reviewers were crazy, at the beginning, and then later agreed. :p

Speaking of this... check out this one for one of my flight professors:

http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=487569

Read the entry 3rd from the top, dated 6/8/05... that is the one the prof entered as everyone was taking our final for spring quarter... goofy guy.

The entry 2nd from the bottom is mine. :D
