how'd this thread come back, I thought yella passed away or I'm I thinking of someone else?
im givin it a 9/10 - i LOVe progressive metal! and progressive rock for that matter...Oh man, absolutely fantastic opening track to the Foo Fighters' latest cd! Some great licks and riffs. And I personally think this is their best album yet.
So here's a a youtube link to a song called "I go insane" from the last solo album of Tony Iommi, Black Sabbath's guitarist. It is a great song, quite an epic track, with a number of fantastic twists and turns. So don't think you know the song from the opening lines. This is what I absolutely love about Sabbath and Tony Iommi. So many of his songs have different tempo changes, twists and turns, quite unlike any other band. For eg, the song, "Killing yourself to live" is divided into 3 distinct sections, so that the end of the song is completely different from the beginning. And yet each piece flows harmonously into each other.
Ooh, and btw, the end of this song has this superb guitar solo, just dripping with emotion. Tony Iommi is so good at this, he has got such a good feel for emotional playing, as well as technical excellence.
The singer is Glenn Hughes, who was a former bass guitarist and second vocalist for Deep Purple, and who has done a number of Tony Iommi solo albums.
Here it is, I hope you enjoy it. Tell us what you think:
