I'm sorry you've struggled so ferociously with depression. I received your PM, and am not sure if you'll be returning to the site but wanted to share a couple of videos in case you do. I appreciate you sharing videos in both threads I've created in this section (this one and the one about music from the 1920s-1960s).

I've never battled depression, but I've fought my way back to happiness after dealing with grief, serious illness, heartache, and anxiety. This is a really simple song but one that I wrote to make myself feel more hopeful. The microphone fizzled out at the end, so the sound just abruptly dropped, haha:

Dave Brubeck Orchestra: Unsquare Dance (1961). Brubeck seemed to be notorious for his compositions with odd beats; this is in 7/4!

Listening to this right now. Counting out the beats, I sense this is a quintuple meter of some sort - a much faster "Take 5" type beat. Can't get enough of it!

I had never heard of either until I started embarking on a search for unique musical pieces. It is from an album entitled Music to Moog By; all of the numbers are played with a Robert Moog synthesizer.

This piece from 1923 could have very well paved the way for what we now call rock music. This sounds to me like ragtime heavy on the "boogie-woogie". That's what I detect, anyhow. Just listen, and judge for yourselves. Perhaps you will even enjoy it!

This lady's singing has been intriguing me lately. Her name is Yma Sumac, and was known for her five-octave (or thereabouts) vocal range. This song is called Chuncho (Forest Creatures), in which she covers about four-and-a-half octaves, from a deep baritone B2 on up to a whistle-like F#7, the song basically being vocal imitations of creatures of the forest, thus the English subtitle. Simply amazing!
