I agree with and appreciate all the replies.
There are depressing times when i get such thoughts too and somehow God encourages me in different ways and makes me get along in life.
God wants to bless us with both Spiritual Blessings and Worldly Blessings. Some of us look at the Wordly Blessings and think that they are the only blessings and when we don't see such Wordly Blessings in our life then we think that we have not recieved any blessings at all. I think if we are not recieving Worldly Blessings then we are receiving Spiritual Blessings or we might be recieving both simultaneously. There are a few scriptural verses which convey this -
1 Corinthians 1:5 - That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;
2 Corinthians 9:11 - Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.
Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Ephesians 1:3 - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
So, we are being enriched in everything. And we know that all things happen for our good. And God has already blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. The above verses encourage me tremendously. We can rest or stand on the above verses throughout our life.
At times like this, i also get the following scriptural verse into remembrance -
Habakkuk 3:17-19 - Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: 18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. 19 The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.
Habakkuk the Prophet says, although i see zero wordly blessings bestowed upon me, i shall still rejoice in the Lord and in the God of my salvation. This is a tremendously challenging and powerful verse which strengthens me.
I also remember a Hymn which i learnt at Sunday School during my childhood which becomes more meaningful to me during the times when i get thoughts like you got -
Count your blessings
Name them one by one
Count your blessings
See what God has done.
Count your blessings
Name them one by one
And it will surprise you
what the Lord has done.
So, when i start counting the various blessings from the simplest blessing to the greatest blessing then i realize how much God has really blessed me in my life and then immediately i get a strong urge to thank and praise Him and also repent for not realizing the Blessings that He has already bestowed upon me.
The feeling of being unloved by our fellow-humans may remain almost throughout our life for some of us (especially when we are having a lonely christian walk). King David had the same feelings when he said to God, "whom have i in heaven and earth beside You". Even Lord Jesus Christ was rejected by His own and His Disciples forsook Him and fled. Yet they kept their trust in God until the end and rested in the thought that God loved them.
That is why i guess Apostle Paul says in Ephesians 3:16-19, "That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God." so that we may comprehend the length, breadth, depth and height of the Love of Christ with all saints. So, true christian fellowship encourages and strengthens us and makes us to understand the vast measure of the Love of Christ for us as an individual.
May the Lord grant us the much-needed true christian fellowship from time to time.
There is nothing shallow or ungratefulness in getting such thoughts. Every christian is bound to get such thoughts now and then in his/her life.
God said to Abraham in Genesis 12:2, "And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:". So, He wants to bless us with both Wordly and Spiritual Blessings so that one day we become as a channel of both Wordly and Spiritual Blessing for our fellow-humans too.
This is my personal opinion and hope this encourages you.
