  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Here in Michigan in the town I live in about 4 years ago we had a Tornado, It was only a F1 though. That was rare since most small Tornadoes here are usually found out in the countryside. All it did was rip off some of the roof shingles off the roof and bring a few loose sticks with it.

But before that I've been fascinated with tornadoes, so I watched the Storm stories on the Weather Channel whenever it was on. But that was the first time I've seen an real tornado! (not one on the TV.)

But here we rarely get tornadoes, let alone ones that are F2 or higher.

Every spring, when the tornado sirens go off, I ask myself why I didn't buy the place with the basement! It seems we have a few tornadoes every year in the area. Though, I've only seen one small twister with my eyes so far.

I'm moving to sunny warm Florida soon. I'll have a new set of storm issues to worry about there.

Has anyone heard of a cold core funnel? This is a funnel which spawns in cold air. Other than being spawned in cold air, the other marked difference between a cold air funnel and a regular tornado is that cold core funnels develop from downdrafts instead of updrafts.

Florida has the highest number of tornadoes of any state.

I've haven't seen any cold core funnels, but I saw a cold air funnel a few years ago while at the laundromat. I could tell it wasn't an actual tornado because it wasn't spinning. It hung from a cloud for a few minutes and disappeared. Here is some information about cold core funnels:

May 3rd, 1999 F5 who could ever forget. I'm from Oklahoma known as "Tornado Alley" and this is the worst I have ever seen. I have taken shelter from tornadoes many many times and this is the scariest one. Luckily where we were taking cover (in a neighbor's bathroom, we lived in an apartment than) the tornado had turned so we were very lucky. Still feel for the one's that lost everything or lives.
